Confederate flags flying proudly at TN high school...

This school is in my county, Sullivan County in TN. The school is Sullivan South. They're called the rebels. I look at this and to me it looks like a klan rally.

Another local high school told them to not bring these flags to their games. From what I've read, they have complied.

Fortunately, my son will never set foot in this school. We're in a different district.

on edit: A friend of mine took this. She said this was a gathering in one corner of the parking lot at a home game. She took the pic because she had never seen so many like this before. School officials won't say anything when they are at the home school for games. Her and I are speculating that this may be because this is an election year. She's fairly conservative, but still a huge Obama supporter because of his stances on women's rights. That's what keeps her from being a repub.

Its very interesting how the sight of the confederate flag is an indication that is automatically Republican. The history of the Confederacy is what? wait for it... Democratic. The problem they can't see is that most Southerners are celebrating the cultural part (Because what's wrong with fried chicken and iced tea?) of the South when they wave their flag, not the ideology. Much like how my family still celebrates their Cuban heritage, but not the communism.  You'll get racists where ever you go not just the South.

I wish I could impose my wisdom of not living under a rock to these people.

Unfortunately, the only thing that one could 'impart' on DUmb****s, that would make any sort of lasting impression, is a rock--to the side of their heads.

A hammer will also do the trick.

That flag means the same thing to me today that it meant to my ancestors a 145+ years ago....HOME.

Ya gotta love the picture out of the window move ... it's as if they've caught someone doing something illegal.

Sheesh.  I have zero problems with the Confederate flag.

Yeah.

Nebraska had no dog in the fight between north and south--we were just a few thousand red Indians and a few score fur traders from Quebec at the time--and the Civil War is just another "event" in history to us.

I always considered the stars-and-bars as a cultural and regional symbol.  No connection with racism.

But of course the primitives would find racism in the Cross of Lorraine, or in the Irish shamrock.
