I witnessed what we are up against!

Florida Today and I witnessed what we are up against!
by Vewife

Today I took my son to get his DL changed from Ga to Fl.

Here we go. He had lost his actual social security card BUT he had his Hewett Jackson tax returns. His certified birth certificate. He had had two forms of physical address and his bank statement.. all of which showed his social security number, The number was good enough for the IRS but not the DMV.

They had access to his Ga DL and his other Florida DL from years ago and they issued a temporary DL BUT could not register to vote. They had his old DL up on screen from the year 2000 before it was transferred to Ga. They had the Ga DL...Give me a break!!!! Pictures and all. He is 43 not 19.

Ocala was the closest social security office. It is now shut down. 60 0r more miles to get a social security card.

He lost is card in a lake and with all of those valid numbers. Now the next question. Do you have a passport?

My reply..Come on..

He can't drive around the block legally and you want to know if he can leave the country via passport? My son was nice. I was pissed. I told her.. "Hey I know what is happening here ..King Scott put this in effect after he got elected right?"

The answer was yes. I again said, "He can temporarily drive for 30 days until the proper papers are shown but can't register to vote. That was an affirmative.

Do you really think Florida is not going to make it damn near impossible to get all the papers in order. Then I was so mad I could not see straight. She knew what car he drove in 1999 from that DL in Florida...Gonna tell me she didn't know he voted Dem last election. Where are your papers please. She looked a bit uncomfortable when I was throwing questions out there. Never smiled. Reminded me of some Nazi intake person. This is where you register to vote.

Wait till they compare our signatures on election day. How many handwriting analysis are onboard. None I venture to say.

I knew it would be bad. I had to show my marriage license to get my DL. What a bunch of crap.

2. so the insist on the socsec card for id? the one that says "not to be used for identification"?

yeah, i know they removed that years ago, but i'm pretty sure i still have my original card with that statement on it.

10. I also have no social security card, and no office within 70 miles

I was told by the nearest Social Security office - really - not to worry about it. They said its not ID, and I really don't need to have an actual card for anything. They told me that verifications can be done online if anything needs to be verified...so I don't have a card, nor do my kids. So far, so good - here in Oregon.

25. The DL office clerk did not believe my SS card was valid

It was the only one I have every carried around, issued when I was a kid, about 50+ years ago. The 20 something year old clerk had never seen a SS card that old and was not sure it was a real one. The oldest clerk in the office came over and approved it, otherwise they would have refused to issued me a renewed driver's license even though I had EVERY single form of ID and proof of residency required:

TWO different certified copies of my birth certificate, one recent, one 50 years old.
Social Security card.
Utility bill
AND my old driver's license WITH my picture.

3. I wonder if there is any loophole

Because if the DMV clerk can see your party affiliation, maybe they are breaking a law somewhere. I don't know the privacy laws involving voters. There is no reason a clerk at the DMV should be able to get that info.

7. Each day gets a little more twisted in the US. I pity what this country could be if under Romney/Ryan. Too many in the US take it for granted and hell, too many can't be bothered to learn the issues and vote. I think that's about 40% or so. Then, you have all the crap your son went through.

I have a very short temper for bullshit like this. I certainly hope your asshole governor gets voted out the next time around. Why people even vote for someone like him is beyond me.

14. I still say they are going to change votes by hacking the central vote reporting system which experts say has little to no security. They spend a billion on the election, is it a stretch to think they won't spend a couple of million to do this?

15. No sane person should live in Florida these days.

But it goes for any State that has a strict voter ID law. What can you do if you can't vote? You could hold protests until the police come out and brutalize you. Then you end up in jail in the thrall of your state's privatized incarceration system. Meanwhile, you've lost your job.

No, if I were in Florida, I would look for another state and move out in droves. If it won't let you vote, bleed it's population, and therefore it's power away.

16. In the seventies and eighties I changed my drivers license between three states.

I started out and ended up in Pennsylvania. Requirements from that time varied from a simple exchange to a written test to a complete driving test. I don't know how it is now, but my original PA test was through my high school drivers' ed class and required no proof beyond my being a legitimate student.

Forms were filled out,of course, but no stringent documentation needed.

22. I just checked the FL Div. of elections webpage and what you need to register. Here is what it says:

Gotta have a FL driver's license number or FL photo ID number and the last four digits of the SS #. Google the webpage at "Register To Vote Florida Division Of Elections" and it is listed right there. There is also a voter registration form you can access right there online. It seems the hangup you had has to do with the DL number. Once he gets his permanent FL DL, he'll have a permanent DL #, and he knows the last four digits of his SS #, so should be all set. But please, again, check out the webpage.

It's hard to find anything with your full SSN on it anymore.  Even the military has starting taking those number off military ID's and issued you a number (kinda of like DL numbers).  Almost everything has only your last 4 digits.

The difficulty with getting a Florida driver's license or ID (or any state license) has to do with 9/11.

Another one that's dumber than dirt.  Indiana requires ID, when I go vote.  I give the worker my DL, they find me on the roster, give me a ballot, and away I go.  The DUmbasses just need something to bitch about.  If it wasn't voter ID, it would be something else.

You do realize, DUmmies, that this is what healthcare will be like under Obamacare.  Just substitute DMV with IPAB, and possibly the IRS.  Just try and imagine you visiting a state that has rebelled against king zero, and something happening.  Try sorting out that mess with the bureaucrats.  We'll send flowers.  To the funeral home.

Paatriot Act - Federal law - requires you to cough it up for all kinds of stuff like opening a bank account.  The question about a passport was entirely reasonable, since it is accepted as an alternate in many uses under Federal regs, it's not like he would have had a passport with him in the boat and the question wasn't 'Did you get a passport since you lost the SSID card?" - they're good for ten years and a lot of people DO have one.

IIRC, GA will take a W2 or Federal Tax Return as proof of your SSN if you don't have a card.

What a pant load!

I have not had a physical SS card for 30 years. Would any organization accept a copy of an easily forged tax return as acceptable ID for even cashing a check? HELL NO. If a 20 year old tries to get into a bar with a copy of their tax returns do you think the bouncer (even Ty) would let them in the door? HELL NO.

This bouncy once again prove the adage of "The smarter you think you are the easier you are to fool."
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The day trip to the SS office is a good one if they're in such a hurry to get their vote fraud scheme rolling. They will give you a letter veryifying you applied for a copy and the new card arrives in a week or 10 days.

There's such a hurry to get it done so homeboy can vote twice come November methinks.

FAA pilot certificate numbers used to be SSN's. Then it became optional, now they are issued 100% non SSN.As for the IPAB, why don't they call it what Sarah Palin identified it as, to wit, a "death panel" ?
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
