Coal Miners’ Union Sits Out Presidential Race

http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/coal-miners-union-sits-out-presidential-race-20120809
FAIRMONT, W.Va.—After giving then-Sen. Barack Obama a full-throttled endorsement in the 2008 presidential election, the United Mine Workers of America has decided not to endorse either Obama or the presumptive Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, in 2012.

“As of right now, we’ve elected to stay out of this election,” said Mike Caputo, a UMWA official and a Democratic member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. “Our members right now have indicated to stay out of this race, and that’s why we’ve done that.... I don’t think quite frankly that coalfield folks are crazy about either candidate.”

Both candidates are trying to prove otherwise to voters in coal-intensive swing states. Earlier this week the Obama campaign released in Ohio the first coal-issue ad of this cycle, claiming that Romney has flip-flopped his position on coal. The ad includes comments that Romney made as Massachusetts governor in 2003 standing in front of a coal plant, saying that he wouldn’t support jobs that kill people.

I am voting for President Obama. It saddens me that the coal miner's unions are sitting this out. I think it is because of the stand Senator Manchin has.

0bama is trying to fire them.

3. they're being lied to, and they're falling for it. Sad. n/t

Who's lying to them? 0bama freely admits that he is anti coal.

6. That's really stupid.

Democrats are the only chance people like the coal miners have of getting health care. Under repuke rule, they will just die faster.

If the repukes don't take their jobs from them, they can afford their own health care.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Die faster? Typical DUmmie...everything is politics and daddy government...even the lives of other human beings. So this is the only union in the entire country that doesn't negotiate health care benefits for their members? Who new! Since 0bama wants to put them on the unemployment line, they probably aren't part of those "special" unions that get wavers from 0bamacare. That means keeping the quality health care they have now is very important. 0bamacare will in no way give them the kinds of benefits they have now.

For a union to not endorse the DemonRat candidate is a defacto declaration to the members to vote for the opposition, Romney.

That's not true.  Under Obama, those coal miners will soon be unemployed and be eligible for medicaid instead of their current employer provided insurance.

Union members that want to work are being worked by owebuma.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

I am voting for President Obama. It saddens me that the coal miner's unions are sitting this out. I think it is because of the stand Senator Manchin has.

Sen Manchin knows that if he can't carry southern WV he ain't gonna win his next term.  He done pissed off the northern part of that state, which is pretty conservative, by standing with obozo. He needs the southern counties to have a chance in November. His 75 percent victory in his last govs race didn't really translate into the landslide he thought he would get in the special election for senate. He is worried about keeping his job like Gov Earl Ray and the rest.

BTW dummie, since your handle is Kteachums, I will assume you live in Kan County. I bet I read your bowel movements in the Chas Gazette. <our version of the NY Times>. Is your name Jane Claymore... the frequent teacher that gets her bowel movements published in the Chas Gazette? an example

Go ahead and vote for obozo, Kteachums. When coal starts having problems, WV has problems. Wait until the state can't fund your cushy little job anymore or your cushy little retirement there, Kteachums. Whatcha gonna do when that happens?

Coal taxes are down
The obozo admin's economy hurting WV

I got many more examples if you wanna come over here and debate it, dumbass.

BTW... if you are Jane, I remember you well and you are a complete bitch.
