"Why would Mitt Romney steal the spotlight from our US Olympic athletes during the Olympics?"

This was my immediate reaction when I heard that Romney was announcing his choice for Vice President on Saturday morning. I couldn't understand why Mitt could not wait until after the Olympic ended Sunday night to make this announcement? And I can assure you that I would be asking the identical question if a Democratic presidential candidate had done the same thing. Respect for our Olympic athletes should never be a partisan issue.

There was no rush for Mitt to make this announcement. He had made his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate on August 1. He had waited this long to share it with us, why not wait a few more days so that our Olympians could receive the full media attention they deserve?

If Mitt had simply waited until Monday to make his announcement, it would not have had any negative impact on Romney's campaign. His choice of Ryan would have still clearly dominated the news headlines and been the story of the week.

Just like Romney did today.

I don't see it as an issue at all, but if it is an insult now when the other side does it, was it an insult back in 2008 when our side did it?

Ah, good times, good times.

You did most excellently there, starting the ball rolling, after which a bona fide primitive got it to the goal.

But I suspect Evie's got enough of that Old Money and Much Money that's she's comfortable; the job had just been a hobby, a diversion, for her.

For those who never knew (and it's impossible that of those who knew, forgot), this was one of the funniest days ever, in the DUmpster, a lazy Sunday afternoon, when it didn't seem like much would happen.

Our esteemed colleague notaDUmmie had posted a campfire lit by the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive, in which she whined about Republican customers.

Just your usual standard primitive whining thread.

Nothing at all unusual about it, a pretty ordinary thing.

But then a lurking primitive read it here, and went back to Skins's island to confront the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive.....and to notify Evie's employer too.

cali got wallduded by one of her own.

It was totally unexpected how that all turned out; a gift from God.

It's a long thread that starts out with nothing unusual in it, but well worth reading, or re-reading.
