The difference is those that think homosexuality is a sin just want to live and let live. They share their values with their children just as gay parents do. Except they aren't shoving their beliefs down everyone's throat. They only talk about in the public arena when they're being beaten over the head by your side. Plenty of prominent democrats (including 0bama who "evolved" for election season) believe marriage is between a man and a woman. So what? You expect people to go against their deeply held beliefs and values. Like playground wannabe bullies, you throw loud tantrums, kicking and screaming until you've got everyone looking at you. Of course, in you're childish mind you think that alone is going to bring people to your side. When that doesn't work you start in with the name calling. Your supposed "allies" are willing to throw tantrums on your behalf, too, but that's all they're willing to do. Think about it.
And there's no compromise with you, it's all or nothing. Nor do you seem to understand you can still have a ceremony. If a celebration of your love and vow of commitment is truly what this was about, you wouldn't be so concerned about whether the government recognized. That's why most people get married (although some of us bring God into the whole commitment thing). I got a piece of paper from the government because I had no choice. What you want is state-sanctioned marriage. Unfortunately, it's been voted down in almost every state where it's been on the ballot. You're response...another tantrum, this time in a court. Honestly, regardless of my personal beliefs, I don't really have a problem with gay marriage. Live and let live. The right isn't a monolith so different opinions don't cause immediate panic and ostracism. Your side doesn't know how to deal with people who don't think exactly like everyone else in their little cult.
For me, the solution to this is simple: get the government out of the marriage business altogether. Conservatives want less government. That's a compromise you'd have a good shot getting the right to support. Why the hell is who you love and want to spend your life with any business of Uncle Sam? However, that presents a problem for your side. Revenue. See, for the left taxes and fees trump everything. You're rights, you're fight mean nothing to them if it means less money coming into their precious government coffers. They'll offer you the same old rhetoric they usually do...make the same promises they've been making for a decade now. This is the same thing they've done to the black community for over 50 years. Sadly, they've been so well conditioned after a half century, they no longer see they can make without Democrats.
But you guys haven't been under the thumb of the left for as long. You're intelligent, educated and capable of critical thinking. Blacks used to be that way. Don't let it happen to you. This whole situation is tailor made for them to keep you exactly where you are, incapable of seeing any alternative but those on the left. They tell you conservatives are bigots. They tell you the only way to get marriage equality is to take them down because they're the enemy. And you believe them. You believe you'll never have what you want without them.
But ask yourselves...if gay marriage became the law of the land, would you need the left anymore? Would you give them an entire voting block for this illusive "someday". You contribute to their campaigns for promises they have no intention of keeping. Many of the gay people I know are very successful. They own their own businesses. You're going to be taxed beyond your ability to keep your business open like everyone else because they refuse to recognize that $250,000 is business income because it's a part of your tax return. But, you know you need it to keep your businesses going. 0bamacare (whether you provide health insurance or not) is going to break your backs just like every other small business owner. The only people that will be able to thrive are those in the government and large corporations. If your pet issue was eliminated, you'd start thinking about what their other policies are doing to you, to your employees, to the businesses you've worked hard to build (of course, you didn't build it so maybe it's not so bad for you). You'd no longer be a monolithic voting block for them. That just won't do.
