My church is planning the trip of a lifetime to Israel ...
« on: August 07, 2012, 03:14:10 PM »
My church is planning a 10 day trip to Israel next summer. My wife and I are going to do anything we can to go. But the money is going to be tough. It is going to cost a couple of thousand dollars to go. But man, would it be such and emotional and great trip. Seeing all those sites, walking around Jerusalem, and following the foot steps that Jesus took when he was alive. Not to mention being able to touch the wall and pray. What a blessing that would be. I get excited just thinking about it.

I'm not sure how we are going to come up with the money yet. They are talking about fundraisers, bake sales, and the like. we just had the same thing for four people in my church to go to Uganda, and they were able to raise a couple thousand over what they needed. So here is praying and hoping that something works out. I am sure that if God wants me to go, he will provide a way for me to get there.

  • If I agree with you, then we'll both be wrong.

There is just NO WAY you can miss this!  Pray, Pray, Pray for Him to make it happen for you and the Mrs.

The wife and I hope to make it one day soon.

YES<YES>YES, sell your car if you have to, Church groups get a discount so plan a year ahead for everything.

Mom went in her late 70ies with boyfriend who was Catholic through his Church.   The experience changed her some how, she went as an agnostic and came home a believer.    Not a church goer but changed in little ways, more loving and way less judgemental of others.

From what I understand she had just 3 weeks to prepare, get her passport and pack her bags.   Dad had only been dead 3 months but by golly she was and still is a spitfire.   She informed her family the night before she was to leave, asked me to plug in her refrigerator 2 days before her return and gave me a list of food she would need when she came home.

Family went into shock, we could see her in Rio or back in Hawaii but the Holy Land ????  For a life long agnostic this was some place we did not expect HER to turn up.

A life changing event at her age, I wish she had gone with Dad 50 years before.   I do not know what got into her over there but she came home a happier and better adjusted woman then when she left.

GO GO GO ANY way you can, there must be magic in them Thar hills to make MY Mom a believer.
