Honestly -
Every company will use its profits to fund things that one may support or oppose. In all likelihood, most companies are doing both at the same time. In many ways, this whole Chick-Fil-A thing mirrors several conservatives getting incensed over the American Girl doll company- when in 2005 or so, it was revealed that one of the charities AG gives to donates some of its profits to Planned Parenthood, or something to that effect. (I'm sure the exact details can be found on the intertubes still). Conservatives protested, some decided to no longer support the company, and that was that.
The only difference is that this Chick-Fil-A protest has been cranked up to 11- As always, the liberals are overplaying their hand.
In the end, the marketplace will determine the effect corporate politics have on the bottom line. If the companies policies are so egregious and offensive, that the company crashes & burns, so be it. But in the case of Chick-Fil-A - as was the case with American Girl - there will be virtually no effect in the end. As long as both companies continue to produce a product that people are willing to pay for, they will continue to succeed - As will nearly any other company targeted by the left or right.
