Another non-Bouncy
« on: July 31, 2012, 07:54:35 PM »
So I went to a local steakhouse for dinner this afternoon. There was not a television in the place. Once I got my food I do as I always do before a meal and bowed my head to silently give thanks to God.  As I was eating, an older man and woman came in and sat at the next table over. I was talking to my wife as they got their food. I heard a quiet steady voice coming from their table so as I continued talking to the wife I looked over in their direction. They had joined hands and were very quietly but audibly giving thanks to God before beginning to eat. When I saw what they were doing I stopped speaking and remained silent until they completed their prayer. We appeared to all enjoy our meal of blessed food. If there was a DUmmie in the bushes waiting to jump it ran the other way in fear as soon as it heard God mentioned. No one needed to be converted.

If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

How many bongs, and how many bouncies ?
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

We had a family reunion 2 weeks ago, as always a buffet style potluck, but before the feasting began, there was a call for quiet so Grace could be said.  Not a single person objected or got up to leave, even the little kids were quiet.

Oh, I have one too...think of this as your typical bouncy within a bouncy that only vaguely resembles the original one.

SO, we took our son to the airport Sunday because he had to be back to Camp Pendleton Monday morning. We walked up to the Alaska Airlines ticket counter. He didn't have to pay anything for his luggage. The clerk was very happy to give us passes to see him off. Going through security Jake had his backpack ruffled through. He chatted with the Homeland Security lady while they were digging through his stuff. I suppose they were looking for the characteristic AK-47 the military uses. She thanked him for his service. This does seem to happen to him every single time he flies. I told him maybe he should use his regular ID instead of his military one to see if they still checked his backpack. I had a pretty large handbag and no one asked to see inside that. We have one of those new scanner things that sees through, well everything.

We sat down to visit for a few minutes before he had to board. As we always do, we prayed for him to have a safe trip. We got a lot of strange looks and some pretty scornful looks as well, this is Eugene after all. But, no 21 year old expert came over and lectured us about health care and the economy or how the military is sucking the life out of social programs. Suddenly, the desk clerk jumped up behind the counter and announced it was time to board. We said our goodbyes and he got on the plane. We waited until the plane started going towards the runway.

We stopped at Walmart on the way home to get a birthday present for my grandson. My shoe broke, which pissed me off because they're one of my favorite pairs. I had to buy some cheap flip flops to wear home.

Every few years we have a family reunion.
During the big meal, the senior recites the blessing......in Norsk.
Suck it, DUmpmonkeys.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”
