Sherman A1 (9,146 posts)Looking at the combined heat & drought and it's expected results to crops I would suggest that everyone over the next few weeks stock up on canned goods & such, as I understand grocery prices are going to go up significantly.
Curmudgeoness (7,660 posts)1. This is an excellent idea. And not just canned goods. If you have a freezer, meat will not be cheaper for a long time----they are selling off a lot of the animals because they can't feed them. If your area has local farm produce and the drought has not affected your area, start canning or freezing.I have a feeling that this is going to be painful. And I am glad that you suggested this, since I hadn't really thought of this yet. I may have thought about it too late.
Sherman A1 (9,146 posts)2. You are correct, the Freezer is of course a wonderful idea and we will look and doing this ourselves. Many folks however, don't have a deep freeze and are thus limited as we know. So hopefully everyone does the best they can with a coming difficult winter.I expect prices to skyrocket myself with the combined effects of the heat, drought and to a certain degree the Mastercard/Visa settlement as retailers look to increase their income (or as they will say offset their losses) streams through swipe fees for those using charge cards. The loss of a significant portion of the corn crop will most likely lead to increases in gasoline and ripple through almost every food product on the shelves in one way or another.
They have been talking about this on Fox Business for weeks. Prices are about to skyrocket.
Poor ol' Barry. The thought he had the "Midas touch", where everything he touched turned to gold.Instead, he has the one where everything he touches turns to SHIT!
I believe that one is the 'Fecal Touch.'
