Obama campaign not worried over ‘you didn’t build that’ attacks—but fighting back anyway

President Barack Obama is personally leading an all-out counterattack against the Republican assault over his "you didn't build that" remark, hitting back in his stump speech and in a new television ad as the Democratic National Committee launches a state-by-state response. But that's not because he's worried about the Republican offensive, top strategist David Axelrod insisted on Wednesday.

Republicans have seized on Obama's comments at a Roanoke, Va., campaign event two weeks ago that "If you've got a business—you didn't build that." The context makes clear that the president was saying entrepreneurs need government infrastructure like roads and bridges, investments in education and what Obama called "this unbelievable American system that allowed you to thrive." But the core quote was heaven-sent for Republicans eager to portray the Democrat as hostile or ignorant when it comes to the top issue on voters' minds, the economy. And it quickly made its way into hard-hitting ads.

Obama has no patience for 'you didn't build that' attacks

http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/07/obama-has-no-patience-for-you-didnt-build-that-attacks-130016.html

By DARREN SAMUELSOHN | 7/25/12 1:33 AM EDT
SEATTLE – President Barack Obama said Tuesday that he's losing his patience over the Republican attacks aimed at his “you didn’t build that” comment.

“I have to tell you, I generally have patience with what the other side says about me, that’s a requirement of this job,” Obama said during a $5,000-per-plate fundraiser here, according to the pool report.

“And if you don’t like folks talking about you, you probably shouldn’t run for president. The one thing I do have no patience for is this argument that somehow what I’m criticizing is success… I want to promote success," Obama said.

Obama's campaign and the Democratic National Committee are trying to get past the remark that has become a center piece of Mitt Romney's stump speech that the administration considers government the only way for individual success in the private sector. Earlier Tuesday, Obama launched an ad campaign in six swing states with the president speaking directly into a camera to explain himself and argue that Romney has taken his words out of context. Obama also swung at Romney Monday in Oakland during his first public remarks in a campaign since the Colorado shooting.

In Seattle, Obama cited the fundraiser host – Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal –  to emphasize his own business perspective.

“[W]hat I know is that Jim’s story, my story, the story of so many of you, our success was made possible in this country because our parents, our grandparents our great grandparents, stretching all the way back to the founders, they had a vision that says, you know what, insists on hard work and individual initiative,” Obama said.

“We’re going to reward risk and entrepreneurship. People are going to have to sweat and sacrifice for their success. But there are some things that we’re also going to do together to make sure that everyone has success. Not everyone’s going to succeed, but everyone’s going to have a shot at success,” the president said.

Obama pointed to public schools and colleges and “this amazing infrastructure that allows businesses to move goods and services.”

“So we want success,” Obama added. “We just want to make sure that everybody has a shot. That’s what we’re fighting for, that’s what is at stake in this election."

^^^  He is back tracking what he said. Romney is in the right to criticize him for it. And the only success obama wants anyone in this country is success that is monitored by the government.

  • Creepy ass cracker.
So now he is claiming that he has the business owner's back.  :mental:

Sorry Barrack we don't believe you. You talked about business owners in condescending tone and said they didn't make it happen. The reality is they made it happen just as much as any other tax payer, in fact they have paid more to fund those roads and bridges than the average person has. This nonsense that they somehow got a free ride is total BS.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Since Democrats are incredible pathological liars, anytime they say they're "Not worried" about something, you can bet your ass they're scared shitless of it.

Good point, DAT.

My first reaction when I heard that "Obama is losing patience over blah blah blah..."  was

I DON'T GIVE A SHIT.  Who is he to say what resonates with people?

And I caught this bias from the Yahoo article:

Quote
The context makes clear that the president was saying entrepreneurs need government infrastructure like roads and bridges

All over the internet, the libs are scrambling, going on all the news sites, parroting these words:  Clear, context, roads&bridges.  Lather, rinse, and repeat.  They look like little robots or drones.

And they all seem to miss the fact that all that concrete and steel is made available by the blood, sweat, and smiles of the working private sector.  They also seem to confuse common sense (logical) infrastructure (roads, bridges, water lines, sewers, fire depts., police) with the constant failure of socialism, which provides nothing of substance and promises equal misery for all.

I read the entire speech and while Barry THINKS he was talking about roads and bridges and infrastructure, the fact remains he was talking about INFRASTRUCTURE as a priority OVER and SUPERIOR TO individual liberty, achievement, entrepreneurship, and just plain hard work.

This is a fundamental concept that Barry espouses -- the collectivism that he preaches outweighs the individual. He says it over and over and over again.

By contrast, you'd NEVER hear Ronaldus Maximus say things in that fashion. NEVAH. And that's why Reagan connected with people, resonated with them, inspired them.

Barry -- not only are you a liar, but you're an unconvincing liar to boot.

He said "You didn't build that."  "That" refers to a singular noun, "Them" would be used for a plural.  "Roads and bridges" is a plural, a proprietor's small business is a singular.  The plain meaning from context is, in fact, that he was talking about the small business.

Now, was that what he really meant?  Was it Freudian slip even if he did mean to refer to roads and bridges?  Was he referring to an unstated singular noun, like 'Infrastructure,' and his 20-dimensional chess mind just got ahead of his two-dimensional lying mouth?   Who knows.  The kindest thing you can say about it is that it was an ill-considered ambiguous phrase that could be taken multiple ways.  So screw him and his 'Context,' it ain't his friend either.

The Romney campaign happily put out the entire quote where ABM arrogantly talks about sucessful people thinking they are smart and hard working.

The whole thing is Obama trying to cover his lying ass.   Any way you look at it, a business also pays more in taxes than a non-business owner.

From what Obama says in trying to cover himself, he claims to have been talking about infrastructure, education and whatever.  Yet everyone has those same things provided.  Then he tries and talks about there are lots of hard workers that are as rich or successful as others.

Well, what differentiates the people who build their own successful business and those who work for them?

I guess in most cases it comes down to one thing, a willingness to sacrifice to build their dream and become successful.   So basically, Obama wants to punish those who willingly scrimp, save and make sacrifices and reward those who take the easy way and get a regular job, and to really reward those that just want to sit on their ass and collect a gubmnt check.

Most people understand the meaning of that statement. He can lie all he wants but that is an environment rich gold mine for Mitt and Repubs to hold over his head. It just proves that he thinks that government is the answer to our economic and unemployment problems. That will not work with independents and anyone else with a half a brain.

The thing is that obama knows what he said, and everyone else knows what he said. So they are in the right to hammer him big time about it.

It's clear at this point that neither side, especially Romney, is willing to maintain any sort of dignity when it comes to the inaccurate negative ads and talking points.  Just like when Obama was quoting John McCain about the economy and the Romney camp made an attack ad as if Obama was saying the words himself.  Its disgusting, misleading, and goes to show the true character of the Romney campaign. They will say or do anything to win. Even if its misleading the American people.

Excuse me? Romney is trying to stick to the economy and Jobs. obama is more about distractioness lies and crucifying Romney than he is about running on his record. Of course, seeing that he would lose by running on his record. He has to do whatever he can do distract people from it.

For every lying ad that obama releases, Romney should rebuttal with the truth. As we all know that telling the truth is something that obama could never do.
