my dog just pulled his bed down the hall..
« on: May 21, 2008, 12:06:34 PM »
he loves laying on the cold hardwood floors but he is nearing 10 years old and his joints get achey laying on the hardwood.  his fluffy double-decker bed is in the living room, where no one hangs out during the day.

he finally figured this out; he pulled his bed down the front hallway to the front door where he can see everything.

he can see whoever comes to the door.
he can see upstairs and downstairs.
he can see me in the office.
he can watch me move about without having to move from room to room.

smart dog :-)

i will post pics if i ever figure out how to do so..

what odd things does your pooch or cat do?

Now if you could just get him to rearrange the rest of the furniture...

im not sure i'd trust his tastes but he's a big boy... 110 pounds, so, he has been known to sweep things out of his path when wandering thru a room... :-)

I have to laugh when some self-appointed animal expert tells me dogs have no power of reasoning.  Dogs have a good capacity for logic.

My ancient poodle will bring me the food bowl if I have the audacity to let it go empty.  He does a lot of things that helps him communicate with me.  For example, he sneezes to say "yes, I want to go outside" or just "yes".  Our chihuahua has picked up that habit too.

The guy who installed our television system was working away in the family room that day.  He came found me in another part of the house to ask me why my dogs were sneezing at him.  When I told him, it was the funniest thing he had ever heard.

i have a friend whose Corgi can ring a chime to let them know she wants out. i think that's pretty clever and i agree; i have a cat who says "hello" whenever he enters the house. so, not only are they logical, they are also very well mannered

this dog used to be like that.. he's figured out, after ten years, that he can just move his head rather than actually get up.  :-)

Mickey, my cocker, being introduced to a new puppy.  He was the smartest dog who ever lived.  He would use the toilet when left at home alone.

Mickey died from cancer on Mother's Day 1994 at the age of 12 years, 9 months, 11 days.  I will never get over him.

..
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Sandy, yellow lab.

I love that name!

She was the color of beach sand when I got her, hence the name.  She was named after her Dad on her AKC paper's; Pete's Sandy Girl (my FR screen name).

Here she is at 6 weeks old, many moons ago.

As much as I love my 2 yr old beagle (I waited 2 yrs after she passed), no other dog will ever fill the void.

my couch potato looks like your Sandy when he gets his summer shave down. it takes a few years off his looks and he just loves it.. he is on a diet now, so maybe soon his waist will look like hers as well. :-)

My mom has her dogs shaved down regularly (every other month).  She doesn't like cleaning up dog hair and it makes them easier to bathe.

I liked the one that went to the front of the treadmill like it was going to catch something.
