We can't afford to get complacent, but I agree. The talking heads who are calling for an Obama win are, I think, completely misreading how underenthused the more-moderate Democrats are for four more years of malaise, crony capitalism, and totally-opaque 'Transparency,' as well as underestimating just how pissed off Conservatives and Libertarians are with economically-insane policies, a regulatory program that looks like it will smother us, and outrageously-political favors and reprisals based on past political donations. Turnout is going to tell a story that opinion polling isn't even hinting at so far.
Just finished Edward Klein's book "The Amateur", which is, according to the first couple of pages, a title conferred on Barry by none other than Slick Willie.
One of the things that Obama's base is pissed about is despite having pumped big bucks into his 2008 campaign, once Barry got into office, he dropped 'em all like a bad habit.
No phone calls from the Oval Office, no invitations, no shuck 'n jive with the homies.
Klein says that Barry is at heart an introvert, and singularly incapable of politicking on a personal level.
I cannot imagine a president who is incapable of being a person who cannot connect with people. Say what you will about GWB, I think he truly connected with people. And while LBJ's methodologies were pretty twisted ("come talk to me in the john while I take a dump!"), there was no denying his ability to wrangle stuff out of people on a personal, individual level.
