NORTON SHORES, MI – Police have identified the man shot by a Norton Shores police officer on Thursday evening as Chris Burroughs.
 
Friends and family members comfort one another near the scene where a Norton Shores police officer allegedly shot their loved one, a sword-wielding man in the 600 block of East Sternberg Road on July 12, 2012.

He remained in critical condition at Mercy Health Partners Hackley Hospital in Muskegon on Thursday night.

Burroughs, 38, allegedly assaulted a female in his home in the 600 block of East Sternberg Road in Norton Shores around 5:15 p.m. Neighbors and passersby said the woman ran down the street bleeding from her head.

Her name and condition were not known.
