DU Greatest Hits
« on: July 13, 2012, 05:26:17 PM »
I was thinking today about all the entertainment that DU has provided the world in the last 12 years. It's really been a great run for them. Then I began wondering if I were a producer putting together a DU greatest hits album what I would include. I came up with the list below. They are in no particular order. They include stuff that took place during our time here and at our old home, CU. Also, some of them wouldn't really make the list on their own merits without taking into consideration the smackdowns that CU and CC provided. I know I've probably forgotten to include some good ones.

DU's Greatest Hits

1. Blackie the Ghost Chicken
2. I'm scared a cabbage will beat my ass.
3. The great cinder block/chicken wire 9-11 experiment
4. Fitzmas and 24 business hours
5. The collective works of Nadin
6. The collective works of TominTib
7. I'm a clownish dude who smells bad, but I'm not an internet laughing stock.
8. And a cop jumped out of the bushes.
9. The collective works of BouncyBall.
10. Blink, blink, blink, blink
11. Scamdy (included not because someone died or even because someone got sick but only because DUmmies continue to live in a hazed-filled fantasy land about the issue)

There was one thing that I wanted to include but didn't because I can't remember all of the details. It took place during our time at CU. I THINK maybe during the 2002 elections. Moles infiltrating DU convinced a lot of DUers to use a particular user pic or signature pic or something as a show of some sort of solidarity. I assume the picture was hot-linked from a host that was controlled by one of the moles. After the dems lost the election the picture at the hosting site was exchanged with a less lunatic friendly picture (maybe "all your election belong to us") so when the DUers logged onto DU they found their solidarity turned to upside down.

Some of you on here probably remember the details and may have even took part. Did I get any of the above correct?

I'd have to add "You should be honored that your cat was eaten by a hawk" to that list.

Yep. I'd forgotten about that one or I would have included it.

What happens if you say "Greatest Hits" too fast ?
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Mopaul's post on the day President Reagan passed is an all-time classic in exposing their hatred and lunacy.

I think you're mixing two events.  There was a screen capture going around FR showing a page from DU on the night of the 2002 election with a pop-up saying "all your senate are belong to us".  I think a completely different incident involved moles convincing DUmmies to post a photo in their signatures.  After awhile, the pic was changed to something else.

You're probably right. That's why I didn't include the mole thing in the list.

Yeah, these are two distinct events.

The first was a hack, as the original DCForum software DU ran on was publicly available, abandoned by its authors, and entirely exploitable.

The second involved an oversight by DU administrators, where users were permitted to link to images hosted offsite in their signatures and whatnot, allowing the 'surprise update' to occur. DU abandoned this policy after the incident.

At least I remembered something happened. I even got part of it right. So I guess my memory is not all that way...I forgot what I was going to say.

Oh man, mention of the pics of hands signing brings back some memories...memories about when they all were going to mail a can of peaches each in some stupid protest (Don't remember who the target was), and then the same thing with all mailing something (A flower?  Don't recall exactly) to the witch-queen, Helen Thomas, before she was shunned by the MSM.

I once had screenshots of both events. Sadly, that was a long time ago, on a computer that has since met the recycle bin.
