Vice President Condi Rice.. That has a nice ring to it.
« on: July 12, 2012, 08:59:46 PM »
Drudge is reporting that Condi Rice is in the front running for VP. My only beef with her is that she is what she calls it "Mildly Pro-Choice", whatever that means?

I didn't know she was being vetted...

She also has said for a long time that she wants no part of any elected office.

She has often said 'Not interested,' and would certainly come under attack for not being 100% aligned with Pro-Lifers.  However she is very pro-Second Amendment, is extremely smart, and has the foreign policy chops that Romney himself lacks.  I would love to see her on the ticket, personally, but unless her point of view on running has changed drastically lately, I don't see it happening.

I tell you why I like her in one word:

Russians.

Anyone here think that with the end of the Cold War, the Russians are our buddies?  Yeah, me either.  Yet she has a LOT of experience in dealing with them.

Now do I think that's enough to get her off the fence and accept the VP slot if she's asked?  Probably not, but Romney IS going to need someone with foreign policy experience, and so far, Rubio is the ONLY candidate besides Rice to have any sort of exposure to it.

And for the record, NO, I don't think Ayotte would be a good pick for VP, either.  NH/MA are too regional to be effective.  I thought it would be a problem with Christie, I KNOW it'll be a problem with Ayotte.

She has said numerous times that she is not interested. It is hard to say who he will pick. I just found it interesting that Drudge would put that .I also know that whoever Romney picks better be someone good, as he election will depend on it.

Not only has she stated numerous times she is done with politics her views on national security may be somewhat far right her views on social issues are moderate to liberal.

guess you could say she is a left leaning Neocon.

It was all over Fox News late last night, that Condi was being seriously considered.

I like her and think she would be great. She brings all the foreign policy experience to the table that Romney doesn't have. God knows we need someone who knows how to deal with the "furriners". She also could capture the female and black vote.

What concerns me is what could turn up in her personal life. I have never seen her with a man as an escort or companion. In any article that I have read about her personal life, I haven't ever read about her having a relationship with a man. Women don't get to be her age, never having a relationship with anybody - straight or gay. She has been in the public eye for too many years to have had someone that has never been "discovered" by the press. She may have been in a relationship with a married man and no one ever found out. But they sure would if she's the VP candidate. She may be gay...which I could care less if she is. I care about her political capabilities. However, there are a whole bunch of conservatives who would never ever consider voting for Romney/Rice if she is.

Regardless, the MSM will go through her life with toothpicks from the day of her birth until today looking for any dirt they can find on her.

Can she "pass" that type of scrutiny?

I don't know.

Ridiculous.  There are plenty of peole (professional and otherwise) who don't have intimate relationships with other peole and choose to stay single for whatever reason.  To suggest there must be some nefarious reason for their decision is silly.

Condi was engaged to Football player Rick Upchurch in the 70's. I look at her not getting married or having kids a normal woman who is focusing on her career. There are a lot like her out there. Of course the MSM will paint a different picture of it.

I was at the bank a while back and overheard a pair of tellers talking to each other about another customer not having a girlfriend.  I thought it was pretty funny... the way they were talking about him, you would have thought he had a second head or a third arm.

Hadnt thought about her not being married but there hasnt been an unmarried person on a ticket in a long time. That might backfire on us.

How?

If she's unmarried, she's a typical American black woman....at least she's minus the gummint tit sucking, trouble making, illegitimate gang of kids.

If she's gay, what can dims say without pissing off all the LGBTGXYZ crowd and all their supporters?

Yeah, but when was the last time Dick Morris was right about anything? :-)

Dick Morris also says that Obama will lose by land slide. I know he has been correct on a lot of things in the past, but I am skeptical about this one. I know Romney will win, but I doubt it will be a landslide. I can only hope that it is.

You really wonder how an unmarried "mildly pro-choice" person would hurt the voting enthusiasm of the traditional values party?

There are already a lot of evangelicals that are just going to begrudgingly vote for Romney, Condi as VP might convince them to stay home.

Of course there are people who don't have relationships and chose to stay single. More power to them, they are probably a lot happier in some respects than those who are in relationships/marriages.

You totally misunderstood what I was saying.

I am in no way being accusatory of Condi being gay. I don't know if she is, nor do I care if she is. Nor am I picking apart her personal life and lack of men in it, if there is an actual lack.

All I'm saying is...what if she is? If she is, she has kept it a secret for years...which is her right and I respect that right. But there is no way her personal life will remain personal, no matter who is or isn't in her life. She's a single woman, who is most likely not a virgin, who's entire life will be laid out under a microscope!! People are way more judgemental about how a single woman lives her life than how a single male does.

However, if she is or if there is any HINT that she may be, there is no way in hell that the "diggers" won't find it out or if even if they can't PROVE it, there is nothing to stop them from suggesting that she may be.

Sarah Palin was crucified for not being as up to date on foreign policy or how many newspapers she read each day as some might think she should. Every little detail was ferreted out - or an attempt to - over Bristol's pregnancy.

Can you imagine what would happen if Condi is, in fact, gay? The carnivorous feeding on her will be bad enough, if she lives her life like a cloistered nun!!!

Given the options, do you see there being anything that will really make rational pro-American values voters stay home? Short of Romney and Condi holding a Black Mass at the convention, complete with animal sacrifice, I don't see it. Against Kerry or Hillary, sure, but this year? I doubt it...

You don't become National security Advisor to the President or SOS with "secrets" in your background.

It has been announced on my favorite conservative radio show that Mitt throwing Condi out there was a test to see where it would go. He (Mike McConnell - Joe Pagniola (sp?) is filling in for him tonight) said that he thinks it will be someone else.
