Now that the Obama administration has affirmed that the first family won’t be vacationing in Martha’s Vineyard this year, the president sees Mitt Romney’s extravagant vacation as fair game.

Obama used the Romneys’ week at their multi-million-dollar Lake Winnipesaukee vacation manse on the campaign trail on Friday not just to paint a picture of a candidate who is out of touch but as a springboard to wax nostalgic over his own humble vacations past. He told a crowd of supporters at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh:

I remember my favorite vacation when I was a kid, traveling with my mom and my grandma and my sister, and we traveled the country on Greyhound buses, railroads. And once in a while we’d rent a car, not that often, and stay at Howard Johnsons.

Didn’t matter how big the pool was; if there was a pool, I’d jump in. I was 11 years old, and I was excited just to go to the vending machine and get the ice bucket and get the ice.

Obama's cheap childhood vacations sound a lot better than the ones I had as a kid.

I still think Laura Ingraham was way off base on her criticism of Romney. 

Laura--the man was vacationing at HIS home, on HIS dime.  What's the problem?  Well, other than the fact the traffic in and out of the Lakes Region if Romney gets elected is gonna suck donkey balls every time he comes up here.
