Watergate... that is a seminal moment in US History

and not because a President resigned... nope, that is not the reason.

Look, here are some of the things that happened during those crazy years that led to Watergate.

1.- Roger Aisles had the idea, correctly, that the media at the time was not friendly to Republicans. Granted, they were not friendly to Democrats either, and would call either party on it if need be. So he realized that he needed to create Republican TV. Years later this little light bulb would evolve into FOX and worst, a whole system of RW media that is an echo chamber.

2.- Karl Rowe was a young man at the time, learning the ways of the dirty tricks. Nixon lived and died by them, you'd think after Watergate that they may learn about the problem with them, not really.

3.- Pay attention to this one, since this is critical... here is where the conspiracy driven world of the modern republican party emerged. A REPUBLICAN President was hounded out of office... and that really hurt the psyche of the RNC. They have been trying to get something like oh... Watergate, on Democrats ever since... why they went after Clinton, why they went after Carter and why they will go after Obama. This is not about office, this is about a sense of persecution that the party has developed.

4.- Southern Strategy, which has made the RNC a regional party, yet they continue with it, and their base is white and aging.

5.- The Rise of an authoritarian mode of thinking, that did not fully exist in the party, as mainstream, but was in the fringes. This is why the Larouche faction of the party was thrown out, but now that same faction... seem to be taking over... Tea Party my friends, are not that distant from the Larouche types.

6.- A hate for anything even distantly liberal, passed by yes, Nixon, like the EPA.

Until the GOP overcomes the psychology, or finally goes away, all this will continue, and will worsen.

Isn't Larouche a fringe Demonrat? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_LaRouche  Why yes he is.

I'm sure that Fox News was not Roger Ailes idea either, but more Rupert Murdock.

When the intrepid troll reporter effs up such important facts, it makes everything she says stooooopid.

Good grief she is recycling the talking points of the Clintoon impeachment, it was only repukes trying to get revenge for Nixon.  :mental:

As we have found out in the past 4 years, and especially the past 2 weeks, Nixon was a freaking saint compared to what we have now.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I'm not sure but I think he's a friend of that Aisles guy she's talking about.  Never heard of either of them. I think it was Sen Sen who said know how to spell your enemies name.

They are cousins. Mike Rowe does dirty jobs like cleaning septic tanks. Karl Rowe does dirty tricks like playing hide the salami with the ladies. Bill Clinton is a follower of Karl Rowe.

5. RE: your reference to LaRouche...I'm no expert on the LaRouche Cult...

...but, as far as I can tell, they, historically, align themselves more with the Democratic Party than the Repugs.

However, he's never been anything like a traditional or contemporary Democrat, much less Repug.

Early on, LaRouche was a member of the Socialist Workers Party.

He was next a "Trotskyist," and by the 70s, started running for President, first as the candidate for his party, the "U.S. Labor Party," then seven more times as a "Democrat" - I put the "quotation marks" there cuz he's a fraud, as a Democrat.

Whatever he is/was, LaRouche was never a Repug, nor was he ever a Democrat - he is a cult leader.

Lyndon Larouche

...can you cite for me a reference to this claim?

Dirty tricks? Like getting your opponents kicked off the ballot? That's how Jughead won every single election before he ran for President.

(BTW, is Karl Rowe any relation to Mike Rowe?)

I'm not a psychic or a spirit guide, but I do foresee one of the following happen:

1) nadin completely ignores his questions.

2) nadin calls him a bully and accuses him of making it "personal".

3) nadin tells him that he can look it up himself.

4) nadin tries to spin info to make it look like she's right and every other person in the world is wrong.

5) a combination of two or more of the above.

NO,NO, NO,    My dear Nadin, this was what Washington is all about, SEX, Money and Power.

No one was looking for the little black book on donors to the Demo's ------Much more was at stake then money.

You see the Demo's had planted young educated woman in place as either Escorts or paid hookers to the Republican up and comings .   Some of these woman actually for enough money managed to marry influential Republican men and were working for the Democrats.   The ability to blackmale the Republican men was huge.

Nixon no dummy became aware of this problem by Staff and was led to believe that there were top secret documents in the Water Gate office that would out the republican wives and girlfriends for their actions.

Things were set up and as Nixon loved a good spy story and covert operations finally agreed to allow a few Three Stooges ex-CIA to break into this office and get the goods on the wives and girlfriends and hookers.  It was for the good of the Republic and his continued Presidency. Never to be published but to keep the party in line.

Every thing fell apart as the unexpected happend, the building guard called in and a replacement for him was made, new dude that was extra vigilant and noticed a piece of tape on a locked door.   HISTORY was made at that moment.

One of the major players in this story had a wife that went Nuts, called the Press and was finally dragged off to a hospital for a --rest--.

Then we had John Dean with his drop dead beautiful wife MO Dean on TV every night.

We had Deep Throat  and even the Presidents Secretary involved.   Tapes, tons of them only now in bits and pieces highly censored to be released.

This is what I remember from all those years ago, eye wittiness to History that was much more worse then Clinton as Nixion was himself not an active participant in a Sex scandal.

Nixon took the fall for both party's, saved careers on both sides of the isle, kept family's together and tried to keep the public faith in our government.     Had the real truth come out that this was all about dirty tricks on both sides and involving SEX, Betreal, and how easy it was to infiltrate politicians with a pretty face/ male and female. Best to allow the public to believe this was a bungled burglary for lists of donors to the party then to rip the country apart.

Poor Trickey Dickie, he became History in a way he never imagined.

Does she seriously think LaRouche is a part of us? I used to have so many arguments with the LaRouche people when they were hanging out at the Post Office handing out pamphlets.

All that separated LaRouche from being a full-blown communist was the lack of a Moscow address.

She was probably in special education and the graduating test was to read 'The Little Train That Could', sing the ABC song, and spell her name (Which I doubt she could even do that).

Here it is, right from your beloved Wiki......

LaRouche was a presidential candidate eight times between 1976 to 2004, running once for his own U.S. Labor Party and campaigning seven times for the Democratic Party nomination.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”
