Oh, the hypocrisy in DUmmyland regarding SUV ownership!
« on: July 03, 2012, 04:49:01 AM »
DUmmy asks why anyone would want to own/drive an SUV.  What follows is a long list of responses extolling the virtues of their vehicles of all sorts - nearly none of which are union made in the US.  They preach one thing about how others should spend money, but when it's time to spend their own, they speak out of their other face.

They can't do that.  They HAVE to tell people what to do.  They have to force their ideals on others even though they are hypocrites.

What do they say about Trucks?

I won't buy another vehicle from GM, but I would buy a Ford Truck. Other than that, I am going to be going strickly BMW.( I would say Mercedes, but I'm not too keen on their new look. Of course if I had the money to buy one, I would take it over a BMW in a heart beat)  :-)

Mine is a 2004, I won't buy anything GM made after 2008.

I also have a Ford F-250 diesel, but "the boss" (aka "she who must be obeyed") won't ride in it because it don't have A/C.

I like the designs of the new F-150. I won't buy a GM because I am boycotting them (Government Motors).

I think all of GM's trucks are hencho en Mexico.  At least Ford builds some of their trucks in Kentucky.

Yeah, most of the Fords are built in the U.S. GM has factories in both Mexico and Canada.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Same here, but I'm only boycotting the models built after Barry and CO. took them over.

Used cars don't benefit Government Motor's bottom line.

My Avalanche se habla Mexican.

My 1988 Ford was built August 1, 1987, right here in Virginia.   :-)

I cringed!!  I hope everyone was okay.  Yikes.

Anyway, I have no beef with SUV's.  I might own one in the future... but I am a fan of cars as of right now.  If I have another kid, I might go buy some Infiniti or some other luxury SUV.  SUV's like Escalade's are just too big for me.  I'd end up backing over everything.

Just a week ago I retired my 99 F-150 310,000 miles and no major work needed until recently.  I immediately excluded GM and Chrysler products and looked at the new F-150's and Toyota Tacoma's in the end it was tough to pass on the Toyota as the Fords just are not as well built as they used to be.

The new Tacoma's are nice trucks, as well as the Tundra's. I just can't get past the design of the F-150. It is BEAUTIFUL. I want the crew cab short bed in Silver with a dark grey pin stripe. Of course it will have the normal extras that come with the trucks.

One of the things that helped push the Toyota over the top was that I could still get a standard and 4w drive together just like my 99 F-150 .

I'm sick of standards. Every car I ever owned, except for the one I have now, was a standard.
