Well I learned a lesson today...

I live in a very small and very conservative town in Michigan. Threre is a local election coming up in August and the person who has been County Treasurer since the 1980's is up for reelection and actually has an opponent for the first time in a while. I dont pay attention to local politics, its just an entrenched old boys network. Well, this guy comes up to my house wanting to put a sign up. I was in a good mood, my daughter was having a lemonade stand in front of us so I was very kind to the guy. I listened to him, asked some questions and thought we had a nice conversation. I said I appreciated all his years of service, and why not, put up a sign. I followed it up with we would not agree on most things since I am a Democrat. He looked at me like I killed a baby, said well he believes people have a right to what they believe and then left without putting the sign up and went to the neighbors house.

I honestly have no interest in this guy losing his job, was giving hime the benefit of the doubt that he has done good by our county and he just shit on my appreciation.

I hope you had a permit for that lemonade stand, and that you collected sales tax for each sale. I also hope that the health inspector inspected your stand, and that you didn't sell any cups larger than 16 ounces.  :-)

Assuming this story is true, when you told the guy that you are a democrat and probably don't agree with anything he believes in, it would be a reasonable assumption on his part to interpret that as, get off my lawn you knuckle dragging freeper. I know I would have taken that as you don't want a sign.

1. They've split this country apart

We've been reduced to hostile tribalism and it seems to be getting more ingrained as time goes on.

Yeah it's all our fault that you have nothing but pure hatred for us all because of what we believe.  :mental:

6. Sounds like a miscommunication

I could be wrong but it seems like he interpreted you telling him you were a democrat as you didn't want the sign.

Lord help me, I actually agree with a DUmmy.  :-)

7. So, get or make a sign for the other guy,put it up, take pic' and send it to him

And inform your neighbor the bad guy wants to raise the property taxes on your street.

Yeah because repukes are well known for raising taxes.  :mental:

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Yes, because there is so much different in doing accouting as a democrat treasurer and a republican treasurer.  I am sure the monthy reports to the county commission are different also.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

Is MichiganVote referring to Obama?

If you have done that it wouldn't surprise me.  In this case, Dems are trying to kill a country, and they're a step closer.  Aren't you proud?

When in doubt, lie like a good little donk.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
