With Obama as President, Other people and nations can come into the US and tell us now to live? Not as long as the US is an armed society.

Hell, we have already had at least one Supreme Court Justice imply that they should be considering international law when making their deliberations.

Justice O'Connor, for example, has said that she thinks that "American judges and lawyers can benefit from broadening our horizons" and that her own experience on the Court has suggested that "we often have a lot to learn from other jurisdictions." Just last year at this meeting she suggested that "conclusions reached by other countries and by the international community should at times constitute persuasive authority."

well, the United States Supreme Court has tried to get the US to usurp European norms before ... I cant recall the exact situation, but wasnt Ruth Bader Ginsberg trying to get the court to adopt some ridiculous European law? She thought the laws were more progressive and that we just needed to accept that Europe was the leader, and we were the follower. It might not have been Ginsburg and was someone else - but i do remember it was a woman and she said European laws were better for America.

exactly.... when i see the 'leaders' of this movement giving up their second, third and fourth homes, and using a Prius for their only family car, giving up flying private jets, etc.... they might make some headway here.

That actually refers to foreign law (the domestic law decisions of foreign courts concerning internal matters in their own countries), not international law (legalities of the relationships between nations), and she is fundamentally right about it having value as persuasive authority, which merely means non-binding and worthy of taking under consideration in the process of deciding issues where there is not some definite, binding authority in our own body of law, particularly in matters of commerce.  However, if I recall correctly, Ginsburg, Souter, or Brennan indicated a belief sometime in the past couple of years that the body of foreign law should be BINDING authority in American courts, which is totally unacceptable.

Quite a house for four people, looks like each has their own garbage container in this pic. Funny, I don't see a recycling bin. lol
