There is that and Texas is on it's own power grid separate from the rest of the country. Our power won't go out because of a storm three states over.
Well, I think in this case, it's not a matter of interconnectedness since it's not a grid issue here. From the horses mouth, our LOCAL substation was affected as well as many of the local(tap?) lines. I doubt that's the issue now since I've been sitting in my AC since Saturday afternoon while Stinky is over in Bal-more bitching about his neighbors not sharing their generator wealth

That storm was massive that moved through here, Zeus. It brought pretty widespread wind damage from INdy on over to the East Coast. From what I heard it was a dericho and that falls in line with the type of damage that affected trees and power lines. As we mentioned earlier, they don't bury lines here so they are ripe to be blown over or torn down by falling trees(did I mention we had a LOT of fallen trees?)
No need to get all Texas snooty over there.

Trust me if the shart hit the fan, our plan is to load up all the people and whatever supplies we can take and head for the state we know is going to leave the heap of steaming poo to itself. I say you kick any illegals out and all the liberals inhabiting Austin and make room for us traveling conservatives. LOL

IN the meantime, we are hoping to turn this thing around so we don't have to pull up our kids' roots and start over. We got some fight left in this
