Question about comparing 2012 to 2004.
« on: June 26, 2012, 02:11:39 PM »
I am curious. We hear all this talk about people deserting Obama and his polls going down and the like. This leads to a question: What was it like when Bush was running for re-election? I didn't pay too much attention to the second running of Bush (I was working 16 hours a day and didn't have time to breathe, let alone watch T.V), so I don't remember hearing anyone saying that Bush doesn't have a chance, or that Bush is going to lose by a land slide. Did any of that happen?

If it did and Bush still ended up winning, it leads me to question whether Obama will really lose or not.

I know one of the main reasons why Kerry lost was because of his lying about his war record and people realizing who he was. But in case. Did the MSM say the same things about Bush as we are saying about Obama now?

Some polls indicated that his approval rating leading into the election was below 50%.  But I honestly don't recall hearing much about how badly he was going to lose.

He was right around 48-50% some had lower some had higher, the real indicator will be the final polls going into the election. The challenger gets almost all of the undecided vote so if its 47-47 or so expect a 53-47 Romney win
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism. -Kenny Powers

Kerry was convinced he had it in the bag.   it was the best of returns I think we all pulled all nighters watching.

I think we will be pulling an all-nighter this year as well. I know I will be at least.

Hi,

Bush still was regarded as a person you could trust.  He really did well after 9/11.  The libs supported him, then totally turned on him calling him stupid, idiotic, and beyond, it was childish and ugly.  Kerry was outrageous in his cutting personal remarks.  They sounded like the same anti-Vietnam folks from the 60's.  A lot of people do not like that kind of crap.  Honestly, I think some fence-sitters felt sorry for Bush, they piled on and folks do not like that.  Through it all Bush did not get down in the gutter he just took the abuse.  Some of us were hoping he would call out the libs but he really never did.

In the end, what happened is John Kerry was exposed for what it truly is, a total phony, who probably deliberately injured himself to get a purple heart and a trip home......which many of us who served our country call cowards and for good reason.  The book "unfit for command" really put into words what a lot of ex military folks already could see about the guy.  He was saying anything and doing anything just to get elected.  At least Al Gore told the truth.  He was a war correspondent in Vietnam, son of a US senator and was kept about as far out of harm's way as possible.  Any political connections in the Vietnam war were common for special treatment.

While the polls were close at one time, the more the public learned about Kerry, the less they liked him.  I think it was dislike for Kerry that caused his numbers to drop, and then it would in turn cause Bush to rise.

If you want what I feel is a closer analogy it would be Reagan and Carter.  The polls showed them close until election day. I listened to Paul Harvey, taped early in the morning on election day and he said Reagan was going to win by a huge landslide and he was right on.

Unless the the liberals can pull something out of their hat to destroy Romney, I think he will be just fine.  I do expect some rumors and innuendos just before the election so he does not have time to counter just because they have a history of doing so.  If Romney is legit, then BO has a problem because most Americans feel the federal government is governing against the will of the majority of the people.
