Long Shot................................... Jeb Bush

Please, no more Bush's. Rubio is the best choice for VP. I would call him a breath of fresh air rather than flavor of the day. Never heard of  Portman. I like Kasich but neither one of these guys can garner the votes like Rubio can.

I agree a Romney / Rubio ticket would be the least politically experienced ticket in 60 years

Given the current anti-politician bent the electorate is on, is political experience really a plus anymore?

Normally (McClown excepted), the SOP is to pick someone higher on the "bland" scale than the Presidential candidate.  In Mitt's case, that is a kinda scary thought.  I got my money on Portman too.  He can make a meth addict drowsy.

It might be more favorable vote wise but I don't think it would be more favorable for governing the country. I realize the #1 goal right now is to defeat Obama so I'm kinda torn on the charisma v experience issue.

Portman is my pick also. Oddly enough I saw a Hannity show where they had a pannel watch the speeches of 4 potential VP candidates (Rubio, Ryan, Christie, and Portman) surprisingly Portman got the best response from republicans and democrats.

I listened to several You Tube Videos of Portman and I found him to be boring, uninspiring and not that good of a speaker. I find Rubio to be just the opposite plus he does not have to continually look at his notes like Portman does.

Florida is a must win state for Romney. Rubio can help him do that along with several other states. Beating Obama is the name of the game and I think Rubio can garner more votes for the ticket than any other flavor of the day candidate.

I'd rather have Rubio for Vice President. Sure, he has little experience. People are tired of career politicians. Yes, Rubio is a Senator, but a new one. People like fresh face.

Portman is not my pick.  I just said he is more boring than Mitt. Re-read my post.

you said "I got my money on Portman too." and I said "Portman is my pick also" as in hes also my pick of who I think will get the VP spot not who I want to get the VP spot

I would like to see Gov Kasich of Ohio get the VP slot. That way we have a good contender in '16 or '20 as the case may be.

I would like to see Tom Ridge get it. But he hasn't been in the spot light since he left as director of Homeland Security. Of course I am bias, as I think he was one of the best Governors this state has ever had.

If I could interrupt here for a sec. When we we pick a vp, I thought this person has to be top notch in leadership qualities as well as experience, if God forbid, something happened to the president.... I remember this being an issue with Sarah Palin, was she didn't have enough experience in the national political arena..

The reason most people voted for McCain was because of Palin. If he would have picked some dry stiff. He would have lost by a land slide.

The primary mission of the VP (I think this is somewhere in the Constitution) is to not make the Presidential candidate look bad.  That was Palin's primary sin, all the rest was window dressing.

A person may or may not seem to have those qualities, but you never know how they will handle a crisis until it happens. President Bush didn't really seem to have those qualities, but I think he handled 9-11 quite well.   OTOH, Obama was even less experienced than President Bush, and he has collapsed under the weight of the office.

Obama is incapable of being flexible in the face of failed policies and insists on continuing his marxist agenda.

Bush was a likable guy and a lot smarter than he put himself out to be (humble). He also shined from the quality of people he chose as his inner circle and/or cabinet positions.

Obama is a very smart guy but surrounds himself with Idiots, except for his Sec. of state. He advances very disastrous policies for a free market economy.

I don't buy the Obama "very smart guy" meme. That probably makes me a racist. He's an eloquent speaker when he's on script. But he has not shown me any real, deep thinking. Off script, he doesn't communicate very well.

Just my two cents.

God alone suffices.

Me neither. His off the cuff remarks sound dumb as a rock in many instances like the one about how many states he has visited ...57 and one to go. I would like to see his affirmative action grades in H.S. thru college and also his test score on the law exam. This horse shit about liberals being so smart is a myth, and conservative being inferior is a bunch of baloney. However, we have a bunch of conservatives that fall for this bullshit
