I don't doubt this at all, but let's be real -- ALL potential candidates should be thoroughly vetted. Rubio, if he's part of the overall mix, could well be one of 15 potential candidates. Rubio might even make the short list in which case the investigators should be digging really, really deep to find out all the skeletons in the closets -- and you'd better believe there will something there that the Dems would pounce on in order to make Rubio look like a crook, liar, cheat, scoundrel, and douchebag.

But none of that is a guarantee that he'd be selected.

Yeah, which I why I said it isn't set in stone and no one really knows anyhow. We will see here in a couple of weeks. I do hope he chooses someone good and legitimate.

I like Marco Rubio he's a great guy, but he's not got enough experience on the national stage. He would be a great person in the Romney administration but I think Paul Ryan should be Romney's running mate.

If Rubio isn't picked to be the VP candidate, then he should stay in the senate and make his name more well known there. imo

I would think he'd do exactly that.

But part of his appeal is that he's not (yet) one of those entrenched lobbyist-driven typical D.C. schmucks who have made a career out of sucking resources out of the American people.

I see Rubio as one of those conservative shining stars we've been desperate for, ever since we were saddled with Juan McLame back in 2008. I can see him as a presidential candidate down the road a little bit.

Agree, I just hope we can send Ted Cruz up from TX to help him.  TX Republican runoff 31 Jul.

I like Rubio too.

Whether or not he is picked for VP, may not be as much of a question as will he accept it?

Regardless, I do think we will see him as a presidential candidate in the next 4-12 years though.

@debk I like him allot too, and he'll probably run for president in the next 4-12 years. Rubio and Ryan would be a great ticket. I've got allot of respect for Rubio, he seems to remind me of President Reagan.

Looks to be Rubio. Can't rule out Nikki Haley either.

I hope it is Rubio. The Repubs have a bunch of great candidates for VP. Shame that one of them is not at the top of the ticket but Romney won fair and square. I think Rubio will help Romney garner more votes than any other candidate. That is my main concern. We have to get rid of the Magic Negro.

I just don't think the flav of the day picks the likes of Rubio or Haley is the right move for Romney. Too many unknowns about them being so new to the national spotlight. he should pick someone the likes of Portman or Gov Kasich of Ohio. Although Portman is a relative newcomer he has experience in the House and Senate.

What do you guys think of Scott Walker being a running mate? I bet that would make the liberals go bat crazy.

Scott Walker needs to stay in Wisconsin... that place needs all the help it can get.  Ditto for Chris Christie, John Kasich, and every other governor in a blue state that is worth a damn.

Yeah, good points. They can do more as governors when Romney gets elected than they can as running mates. But either way you look at it. If he would chose one of them, the left would go literally bonkers. I would love to see Christy and Biden in a debate. That would be a classic.

Not such a long shot really since his name has been mentioned quite a bit.  I hope he isn't the pick, though. The name Bush is too divisive in politics for now.

I agree. I think Jeb would hurt him more than he would help him.

I agree a Romney / Rubio ticket would be the least politically experienced ticket in 60 years

Biden was elected to the senate in 1972

Yeah if you combine the experience of each ticket as either a President, VP, governor, congressmen, or a political post in an administration the 6 years of combined experience Romney / Rubio have would be the lowest since Eisenhower / Nixon in 1952

That is amazing. I can see now why people don't want Rubio to be his running mate.
