So..I went go-kart racing tonight

That short slick track again.

My mom and dad got me a gift certificate for my birthday so I was using the last of it up.

It was nice, not too hot and plenty of folkes coming out to play put-put, the batting gages and the kiddie track.

Now, I've been racing on that track for about a decade, usually Saturday evening, looking to find the dirt trackers out having some light fun.

Didn't find any of them tonight (maybe thats good cause they can be kinda rough) but there was some fairly sporty folkes showed up. It's good because it's fun to get around someone without wrecking them.

Anyway, I've been going there long enough that the owner and I are on pretty good terms, I'll show up and take a seat waiting for someone to race and the owner will come out and we just chit chat.

After a few races this one couple showed up, as it turned out he wasn't to good but she was. The thing was she didn't know it. Once the owner realized that she was pretty good he walked the track with both of them trying to show them how to make time on his track.

It didn't really help him, whenever I got around him he would go to the bottom of the track and try to overtake me in the entrance of the corner. That ain't gonna work, he would just wash up the track and take us both out so I would brake early and do a crossover which gave me the straight to put on some distance.

The girl picked up some pace after walking the track so since I was just having fun (and trying not to piss off customers) on the next race with this couple, once I cleared (the girl was ahead of her BF) I slowed just a bit so that she could see the line I was using.

We did this for about 10 laps or so and damn if she didn't get up beside me getting all racey and stuff. This went on for about 5 laps.

She had me on the outside which isn't a good place to be but I was able to make it work well enough to keep the pressure on...and it paid off, she overdrove a corner, I saw it and did a crossover and that was it.

She must have had a good time cause she talked with the owner of the track and me about how she was able to get faster for a couple of minutes after that race.

That sounds like fun.  I stink at racing of any kind.  Just don't have the guts for it, I guess.
