New family member
« on: June 18, 2012, 07:21:25 PM »
I was at one of my cell sites doing an audit this morning and I got myself adopted by the cutest little cream and white kitten.  He's about 12 - 13 weeks old.  Poor little thing was getting dive bombed by some birds and ran into a chain link fence running full tilt.  After he recovered from the impact, he ran around the back of my parked truck and kind of disappeared.

I thought he had found a hole in the fence some where and left the area.  But when I walked around to the back of the truck about 20 minutes later to lock up the rear door, he walked up meowed, buzzed my ankles a time or two then proceeded to sink four paws worth of tiny climbing pitons (aka claws) into my leg as he climbed up to say hello.

At that point I knew I had been selected for adoption.

It looks like he has been on his own for at least a couple of days based on dirt and tar on his feet, tail and tummy.  We took him to the vet this evening and other than an ear infection, he got a clean bill of health.  We have named him Artemus.

The picture isn't the greatest.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I don't know if he just wandered away from home and got lost or if he got dumped.  I do know that there isn't much in the way of residential housing in the area that we found each other.
