Obama in 10-Point Drop among Jews
« on: June 10, 2012, 01:07:10 PM »
I wonder why this isn't out in the American media? ::) :whatever:

Obama in 10-Point Drop among Jews

Among U.S. Jews, 64% support Obama, down from 74% in 2008 and similar to what Dukakis got in 1988.

By Gil Ronen

First Publish: 6/10/2012, 5:55 PM

U.S. President Barack Obama currently has the support of 64% of Jewish registered voters, according to the Gallup polling agency. This is 10% less than the percentage of Jews who voted for Obama in 2008, and is similar to the percentage of Jews who voted for Michael Dukakis when he contended for the presidency against George Bush in 1988. Republican Mitt Romney enjoys 29% support among Jews.

Gallup notes the 10-point drop is "five points worse than his decline among all registered voters compared with 2008.”

A recent poll by the liberal Jewish Workman's Circle has shown even worse numbers for Obama, yet how the numbers are to interpreted depends on the interpreters. Some Democrats see the latest Gallup poll as a sign Obama's support among Jews is now rising.

Rising?  How?

Oh--I only bgrought three grafs ovder because the story is only six paragraphs long.  The rest is here:  http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/156730#.T9TRKtVYuHB

a 10% shift could mean all the difference in Florida, maybe even New York of all places.

The enthusiasm is no longer there, that a few percent points. The independents are cut in half. The students are gone.

Probably the only group unaffected are the blacks. Since they didn't get anything out of the first four years, I'm betting you can cut a few percents there.

The numbers are beginning to add up. But the media seems unwilling to report anything but a close race.

Florida?  Yes.  NY?  Not so much, I would think.

I actually  ran across this yesterday and was considering dropping it off on a DUmp thread but didn't.  In light of your comments here might be as good a place as any.  This should have more than a tingle running down some folk's leg at Team Obiewun.

Then take a look at this one and think about the ten percent loss as well.

Anyone want to point out what this could mean in light of the 10% drop for Lurking DUmmies?  PS: Lurkie Loo's, don't take this back to the hive 'less you want a caining from massa Skinner and friends (strictly for your edification and edumacation of course, just leaving you a bit bruised in your contemplation  :rotf:)

I am going to agree with the pundents and say that whoever wins Florida will win the election. Of course, I could end up wrong. But, being that the last 10 elections saw the winner of Florida be the winner of the election nine times, I might be right. Of course I hope I am wrong if Obama wins Florida again.

Here is an interesting statistic: In the last 10 elections, Florida only went to the Dems three times. That was in 1976, 1996, and 2008.

I never could figure out why so many Jews supported Obama or democrats in general for that matter.

Most of the one's that I've personally known have been pretty conservative leaning.

Most of the Jewish people I know are conservative leaning also, I asked a Jewish person 1 time why so many Jewish people are Democrats even though Republicans and Conservatives are staunch supporters of Israel, he just said they feel guilty, guilty for being successful.

Damn...  That is really stupid.

That's like asking me to feel guilty about being born white.

1 of the founding members of the NAACP was Jewish, Jewish people led marches in the 1960's and some sacrificed their lives, and how do they get paid back? yet they still accept the abuse heaped upon them.

I think the same thing every time I see a black democrat. It just staggers me.

Definitely not NY and probably not FL either, the jewish vote is a small amount. a 10 point change would equate about a .3% change. I think Florida will more than likely be decided by more than .3%

I won't believe what you say about blacks until I see a Peggy Joseph update.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

The Jewish vote in FL . . . may shift the state from Obama to Romney.  That's all that matters.

As for the contributions, well . . . that could be done a bit more "quietly," so they may just keep their money in their pockets, or quietly give it to Republican PACs (who don't have to disclose their donors).  It all adds up.  Doesn't matter which state.
