Violence Porn

 Have you ever wondered what is wrong with us as a country that we enjoy extreme violence as entertainment? It's everywhere you look in the movies and television that the United States produces.
 
What does this say about us as a civilization? How does this effect our foreign policy?
 
I'm not talking about violence in movies like Goodfellas where it is part of the plot. I'm talking about reveling in extreme violence as a cool entertainment genre. Enjoying it as the Romans did.
 
Off the top of my head:

Criminal Minds.
 
This isn't a "need to know" expose. It's entertainment with the premise being every disturbing and demented way you can conceive of to torture and murder people.
 
Investigation Discovery

An entire channel devoted to real life murder in exquisite detail. Sometimes with the worst of it repeated over and over in slow-mo. Again, this isn't "information", it's strait up entertainment.
 
Tortured

Be sure to catch this if you want to watch Laurence Fishburne having his fingernails and toenails ripped out throughout the movie. Just one movie of many in the cool genre that celebrates graphic violence and murder for the sake of graphic violence and murder... Because it's cool.

+1. I like to point and laugh at Olbermann, Schultz, Tweety, O'Donnell, and The Munch, but I'm not going out of my way to get them taken off the air. They've got too much comedic value.

They want, and often get power over what (or who) they hate. They have almost all the power over the black community.

I've never had much of a stomach for 'Torture Porn' horror films like 'Saw,' though my October Monster- Fest from last year is filled with horror films (Some of them pretty grisly) that I do like.
For other movies I personally like that the DUmmies would undoubtedly consider "Violence Porn" (None of the TV shows I like would fit that description):
1. The 'Kill Bill' series (Actually, several of the things that Tarantino has worked on woul fit that description, but the 'Kill Bill' series is easily my favorite).
2. '300' (DUmmies have hated this movie ever since it came out, though I think it's mainly because of its message that real evil and tyranny exist and seek to conquer the world, and nations of good men must actively stand against it and fight it).
3. 'Kick-Ass' (Magnificent movie, I REALLY hope that the filmmakers get off their butts and start making the sequel NOW before Chloe Moretz gets to be too old to believably play Hit- Girl, but I know that's probably not going to happen, and Moretz is making a nice enough career for herself already).
4. The newest 'Rambo' film (DUmmies undoubtedly hate it for the same reason they hate '300,' as it has a similar message, plus the movie and its tagline of "Live for nothing, or die for something"  have become something of a rallying cry/ encouragement for the underground resistance forces in Burma).
That's all I can think of for now.

My wife watches nothing but ID and Animal Planet. My favorite station is the Military Channel - I also watch all those crime shows, like CSI, Criminal Minds, and NCIS. Then I also watch The Big Bang Theory.

There is one thing that is missing here, though. Does the dip shit who made that post know that the heads of the Discovery Channel, and the creators (as well as a couple of the actors) on criminal minds are obama supporters?

Or could it be that the douchebag is jealous that he can't come up with a show as good as they are. Then how can he if he never leaves his parents basement?

I like Jovovich, but I've only seen the first 'Resident Evil' film.
For Jovovich, I always remember her as Leeloo from 'The Fifth Element' (One of my all- time favorite movies).

Nothing we can do about any of this, the programs on TV and rented movies were made for ADULTS, no one can controll what a parent wants and allows their child to watch.

This was brought home when my husbands Niece came to visit for 2 weeks,  She was 5-6 at the time and I questioned her family about her preferences for TV and movie shows.    Oh she likes the Fear Network-----WTF this was a little girl, why would she want to see blood and guts, sex scenes and what ever ????

Answer was " She watches what we watch "   

Question:       What time is her bed time, answer, " when she wants to go to bed."

Poor kid spent 2 weeks with us watching the Disney Chanel and going to bed at 8 pm.   I figured the child would never want to spend time with us again but next year she showed up to spend another 2 weeks with us and no blood and guts, no porno and no night mares.

This crap is to be kept from the children as is cigarette lighters, booze and drugs.   Can't be done but I got a shock when the 5 year old knew more about sex then I did at 16.
