Obama's own malaise speech
« on: June 08, 2012, 10:39:06 AM »
His personal malaise, not ours.

Quote

Dangit President Obama - Yell!! Bang your fists on that podium.

Show people just how pissed off you are at Congress for NOT passing your job bills.

Emotion sells.... Use it.

Standing up at the head of the class, speaking calmly does not get your point across. It puts people to sleep.

That's what makes B Clinton, Biden more effective - they play the audience with their voices and inflections.

Time to shed that Mr Cool image - get mad, get loud and give people something to remember - something to talk about....

how nice it would've been if the take-away from this presser was "Oh Man - the President IS pissed off at Congress".

He can't.

He's been coddled and shielded his entire life. Emotionally propped-up until he became the narcissist we all see today.

The problem with narcissists, though; as soon as they meet adversity they either come unglued with temper tantrums or they become morose and depressed.

Obama is the latter (he may yet become the former).

He doesn't know how to take adversity because he's never had to deal with it. He political career started in Chicago, for Dog's sake! Do you think he ever stood for a contrested election there?

He can't cope with frustration because even his "successes" were engineered using rules that don't apply in the real world.

If the game isn't rigged he doesn't stand a chance.

IOW, he's just like the rest of you mewling pussies.

4. Very distressing.

What is going on?

No passion, no drama, no urgency ... ?

Why is Pres. Obama letting himself be drawn into a dialogue on the 'European crisis'?

Even his voice sounds tired and disinterested.

The political situation is serious, the economy is not doing well -- and yet the President does not seem able to even figuratively "pound the podium" and challenge Congress to act.

Folks here may not like it, but I predict this press event is going to be panned because of the President's obvious lack of energy and spiritedness.

Quote
earthside (3,833 posts)
12. Well, there is NO communication ...

... in this press conference with the average, ordinary voters.

Why is Pres. Obama drifting off into rather esoteric economic statistical analysis?

And, I'm not buying this notion that if the President displayed a bit of 'fire' about the failure of Congressional Repuglicans to act that he would be accused of being "unhinged".

But the more I'm listening, I do think there is something other than normal with the President today -- he is very slow in his speech, his tone is very low, he sounds hesitant -- if he is just tired-out then he should not have done this event now.

There is clearly lack of energy in the President.

and he is putting me back to sleep.

Maybe the corporations would listen to his message if he knew how to deliver it - I'm sure they've tuned him out as well.

13. Agree

With the question on the leaks he should have pivoted.

Call them out, say "maybe Issa can waste time on investigating leaks rather than focusing on jobs, of course they are taking another one week vacation so they aren't even faking it anymore."

If you think he's depressed now wait until SCOTUS comes back on ObamaCoup. No matter which way it goes he loses. ObamaCoup energized the GOP to take the House and threaten the senate. If it stands they will double down. If it is struck down Obama will have (more) blood in the water.

Then come the EU meltdowns paired with the chiding from Estonia's PM.

Bill Clinton will continue sniping.

Then, as people whisper about how mortal the child-god has become he will slip deeper and deeper. Maybe those rumors of Michelle threatening divorce after his first campaign loss will prove true.

Obama won't be just another loser, he will be an albatross like Jimmy Carter, to be hung around the neck of any progressive dumb enough to cast a shadow in the US.

A good round of golf or two should reinvigorate him. He can leave all the problems of the office, and the American people, and the world behind, for the 79th+ time.

Unless the DUmmie is actually thinking it would be somehow smarter for the president to bend over and pound the podium with his fists.

Maybe the primitive thinks the (P)resident is a circus animal that stands on it's hands when performing. Now, wouldn't that be racist ?

On second thoughts, the economy is not fine

Quote
With Republicans seizing upon remarks he made earlier in the day that “the private sector is doing fine” – arguing that they show a president out of touch with an ailing economy — President Obama sought to clarify his remarks Friday afternoon.

“It’s absolutely clear the economy is not doing fine,” the president said while sitting alongside Philippines President Benigno Aquino in the Oval Office. “That’s the reason I had a press conference. That’s why I spent yesterday, the day before yesterday, this past week, this past month and this past year talking about how we can make the economy stronger. The economy is not doing fine. There are too many people out of work. The housing market is still weak, too many homes underwater and that’s precisely why I asked Congress to start taking some steps that can make a difference.”

2. Good Idea...Wrong Place...

He needs to get populist and mean it...but this isn't the setting. He's in a shark tank here with the corporate media looking at anything he says or does with the intent of spinning it to fit their narratives. I didn't look to kindly on the days of the boooosh "press" conferences where the questions and questioners were pre-screened and these give and takes were used as campaign events.

I'd prefer to see the President in Ohio or Wisconsin or Colorado with the fire. There's a difference between campaigning and governing...something the rushpublicans can't diferentiate (and are always in campaign mode)...right now he's in "governing" mode. Populism, yes...but we also need leadership.

They are truly delusional.

Congress has a defined responsibility for national defense in the constitution.  While jobs are important, national security ultimately allows those jobs.....
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

Repub. pundits will have a field day with the remark that "The Private Sector is Doing Fine". I am beginning to think that the Magic Negro rec. social promotions throughout his school years. Plus, he must have been given the questions and answers on the bar exam. This guy is the dumbest, Mickey Mouse, President we have had in the last 50 years. No wonder he picked crazy Joe as VP. He did not want to get someone to outshine him.

It should be a fun evening on Fox as even Democrats will be fleeing from those remarks in mass exodus.

Pounding his fist wasn't on his teleprompter...he's incapable of doing anything (well except golf and vacations) on his own. Besides, he needs to avoid the economy at all costs. He owns it now. Employment was low when he took office, so was the national debt. Spin the numbers any way you want, people believe what they see and how they're living.

Obama can't get to involved with questions about the "do nothing" congress, someone might bring up the 30 bills from the HOR that Dingy Reid has tabled.

That's because our poor preezy had to attend a meeting at 8 am breakfast with hollywood stars. Barry doesn't like to do anything before 10 am so I imagine he was exhausted by the time the press conference rolled around. Plus, he was probably still tired from the eight fundraisers so far this week.

and possibly several others, also, unconstitutional participation in these wars by American troops. Totally unconstitutional as well.
