68 Years Ago Today...
« on: June 06, 2012, 02:14:36 AM »

SUPREME HEADQUARTERS
ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY FORCES

Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere, march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!

Good luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

Dwight Eisenhower

Edited, but I had to edit all posts.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

It's 10:34 AM and 64 degrees here, very cloudy with a drop of rain now and then. I wonder if this is what it was like for my uncle 68 years ago as he waded ashore at Normandy?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

President Obama, of course, will NOT commemorate D-Day. Again.

May we never forget what those brave men did :usflag: :saluteaf: :taps: :usflag:

Those men were so brave. I can't imagine being that brave. God Bless hm all.

As for Obama not commemorating it. He hates the troops and the military, so that is normal. He probably doesn't even know what D-Day is. He will prepared and ready to celebrate the Arib Spring and Ramadan though. He gets two  :bird: :bird:

Google is starting to suck also. They get  :bird: :bird: as well.

That speech from Reagan was one of the best I ever heard. God Bless him.

The Military Channel is showing a d-day marathon starting at 4:00 eastern. So I know what I will be watching.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

I'm glad Obama doesn't commemorate D-Day.  He'd just sully it.  When we have a patriotic President again, I'll appreciate their commemoration of D Day.

He is the President of the United States, the Commander in Chief. It is his duty to commemorate D-Day.

I think his silence says an awful lot about the man. I can hear his message loud and clear. **** him.
