CNN is calling it a "narrow" victory for walker - 59-40% right now.  Wicked "narrow".

A blue-collar voter took the news of Scott Walker's victory a bit too hard.

Walker Survives Wisconsin Recall Vote
N.Y. Times
By MONICA DAVEY and JEFF ZELENY
Published: June 5, 2012

WAUKESHA, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker, whose decision to cut collective bargaining rights for most public workers set off a firestorm in a state usually known for its political civility, easily held on to his job on Tuesday, becoming the first governor in the country to survive a recall election and dealing a painful blow to Democrats and labor unions.

Mr. Walker soundly defeated Mayor Tom Barrett of Milwaukee, the Democrats’ nominee in the recall attempt, with most precincts across the state reporting results. The victory by Mr. Walker, a Republican who was forced into an election to save his job less than two years into his first term, ensures that Republicans largely retain control of this state’s capital, and his fast-rising political profile is likely to soar still higher among conservatives.

Hi,

Two things today.

I felt the NYT just could not help themselves and had to use the word "survive".  How about "stomps!"

Second is a personal observation.  I went to school with a kid we called Skippy.  He was unique in the fact his parents had died and literally the day his older sister became 18 she became his legal guardian, she raised him.  Believe me, in those days things were much different.  I seriously doubt she ever applied for or received a dime from the government.

In any event, Skippy moved to WI as an adult and got very involved in scouting.  Come to find out Scott Walker was one of his eagle scouts.  That might not seem like a big deal but I can add this.  When my oldest son was trying to get into a service academy we learned that those who became eagle scouts were given special consideration.  Now each congressman has different criteria, we lived in GA and my son got his appointment by Sam Nunn who was head of the armed services committee at the time.  I figured if Sam believed eagle scouts were a big deal then they must be.

Skippy has since moved south but was proud to say he was invited and went to Walker's inaguration.

I watched his speech last night and Walker sure is impressive.  Wonder how well a Walker Rubio tickets would be?

regards,
5412

Have to say although I have no dog in this hunt, I was pleased to see that an attempt to overturn a legitimately elected politician on no other grounds than they didn't like his policies, was overturned.   Surely this is an abuse of the recall system.

Canada does not have any recall, sometimes I wish we did but this shows how recall can be abused.

I'm wondering though about the Senate, if the Senate is now a majority democrat how much can Walker get done?
