I am hopeful of the day when public sector employee unions are abolished by law. Lots of waste in government and Democrat money laundering would dry up pretty damn quick. I'm also in favor of capping the number of non military people working for the public sector to coincide with a certain percentage of the economy. We don't need better than half the people working for the various governments in this country. They can move back to the private sector and dig ditches or flip burgers if they have no skills beyond being a taxpayer money drain.

I'd love to find out how much my State actually puts out for retirement and benefits for state workers, what percentage of my property and personal taxes go towards that?

I found this just for the town I live in, population < 80K.

The scam is the pension money is "managed" by friends closely connected to the administration. Then it's a big surprise that the managed money was used directly and indirectly to support political office holders, and don't get the type of returns the general market is getting, so it must be augmented by taxpayers.

OMG thundley!

We have people who retire and they move out of State because it's so expensive to live here, so basically they move out of State and they put money into another States economy while we pay for it.

City workers used to have to live within the city limits, but the unions pushed for an end to that.  I imagine quite a few of them leave Illinois altogether when they retire.

I don't blame them, if I lived in Illinois, I'd leave too.
