President Obama Beating Romney 5-To-1 with DOD & Military Contributions
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/05/military-campaign-donations-obama/1#.T8PKso7N4lI

While the military traditionally votes for Republicans, President Obama is ahead of GOP rival Mitt Romney in contributions from military personnel, new campaign-finance reports indicate.

Obama has a more than 5-to-1 edge over Romney in political donations from individuals who list themselves as employees of the Defense Department or one of four military branches, a USA TODAY analysis of federal filings shows. Army employees are the biggest source of military contributions to each: $108,571 to Obama and $22,004 to Romney.

As National Public Radio noted this week, Obama has worked hard to court the military vote. Unlike 2008, when Obama faced a Vietnam War hero, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the general election contest, neither Obama nor Romney is a veteran.

Ahead of Memorial Day, Obama's campaign launched a new ad this week aimed at the military. In it, Obama touts the killing of Osama bin Laden and highlights what he calls the USA's "sacred trust" to returning veterans to do "everything we can to heal all of their wounds."

Y'all know that is an  :whatever: at best...

For the entire election cycle, Paul has received $333,134 in donations from the military. President Obama is second with $184,505 and Romney is third in donations with $45,738.

Breaking the numbers down further, Obama is preferred by members of the Department of Defense and beats Romney in every single wing of the military. The closest Romney comes is in the Army where Obama leads Romney $46,624-$22,338.

But before the President can start celebrating more support from the military, it remains to be seen whether the supporters of Paul will trend towards the President or towards Romney.

For the record, most military members do not designate themselves as such when making a donation to any political candidate.  I have to question those who actually do.

Explain why Romney has two times more funding at this point than Obama does then? Also explain why polls show more military personal are for Romney than Obama? Also how many people donated, and how much did each give? It wouldn't matter how much they get when it comes to the number of people donating. Obama could be getting more from a two or three people, when Romney is getting little bits at a time from a thousands of people.

This would most likely be called a bouncy at best. It goes so high after the first bounce that it would need a ride back on the Space Shuttle if it were still flying.

Correct me if I am wrong but I read it as civilian employees are the ones sending the money not military members.

I expect there's a whole lot of non-military paper pushers in the DoD right now.

Not singling you out but it does not make sense. Every poll that I have seen over the last 10 years puts military members as heavily conservative. While government employees as more liberal. Maybe they are lumping them all together and the libs are giving to obama and the conservatives give all their money to charity. ;)

Relax, 100K vs 22K is a number so small as to be meaningless.  The 100K Obama got wouldn't buy him 30 seconds of network TV time.  Obma's share of that pie amounts to $20 each from 500 assorted DOD federal employee union officers, and there are a shitload more than 500 of those out there.  Federal employees do tend to go more for the Dems than the GOP for the obvious reasons involving Democrat spending habits, but much less so in DOD, which has the most Republican-voting civil service workers due to the large number of vets and the military culture.  You also have to take into account that a lot of Conservative DOD employees donated to someone besides Romney in the various primaries, while there was no contest on the DemonRat side.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Too bad I can't find a breakdown of who was polled, nothing is posted at the original source which is a USA Today blog.

I would be happy to accept the result if only career military members were allowed to vote in the 2012 presidential election.

This is an old political trick. The numbers are taken from the contribution lists of the candidates, and we have to trust what the contributors say about themselves.

Ron Paul and the Democrats have both used this little fraud before. Anyone can check, "I'm a vet" on a $5 contribution sheet.

From the party that has to present FAKE veterans to support the president...I'm not trusting this at all.

Remember: Democrat pretenders are the reason for the Stolen Valor law.

Yawn...last time I looked, it is May 29th, not October 29th.  Romney hasn't even named a running mate.  The big donors & PAC's will keep filling the coffers to combat the Obama/Chicago slime machine for the next few months until the conventions.  Then, the individual donations will start to make a difference.  Just saying.

I think of it this way: The liberals can brag about polls all they want, Reagan never really broke away from Carter until September. At which point he killed him. I am thinking the same thing will happen with Romney. Of course, even then, the liberals will be trying to find some ways to spin it.

Whenever I see crowing DUmmy screeds like this, I have to wonder if the "military donors" to the ReichsMessiah actually served under this "officer":

Ah, yes--Ballduster McSoulpatch, may he rest in peace.

And I love how people who "claim" to be military are supposedly donating more to Obumbles.  What they seem to forget is that all those VOTES are what counts.
