About 20% of blood pumped from the heart goes to the brain itself, so if you count all the other tissues of the head - skin, muscle, glands, etc., 25% total doesn't seem too far off. But since the brain is encased in the skull and uses separate branches of vessels off the carotid artery, lacerations in those other tissues aren't accessing or siphoning off that brain blood, unless of course the injury is to one of those major vessels in the neck before they branch off.

I've seen a shitload of facial and scalp lacerations, and although they do bleed more than other parts of the body given their dense vasculature, unless you clip a good-sized artery they are relatively easy to stop from bleeding using direct pressure for a few minutes and maybe an icepack. Treatment after that would depend on the size and extent of the wound, which could require anything from a simple dry dressing to steri-strips, sutures, surgical glue, or surgical repair.

Not in your scalp it isn't. Cut your face you bleed like a stuck pig. Cut the back of your head not so much. Never had one of those gush and usually sewed them up without numbing them up first.

I got hit in the head by a model airplane that was going close to 120 mph. It was a 100 degree day and I was sweating. The blood poured from my full head of longish hair. Put an ice pack on it and took off to the ER to get it sewed up. The nurse wash my head, shaved a big bald spot with a goose egg in the middle of it.....and put a little round bandaid on a pinhole.

As to CSS, this ain't tv...my local pd, larger than Sanford, does not have a dedicated unit. Get's worst, it was shoddy police work, not even tape was placed around the scene and we know scene canvassing was mostly not done, and witnesses were coached.

As to the doctor...12+ hours...yup, somebody could break a nose that wasn't.

As to the black eyes...yup, normal with a broken nose.

The court should order an x-ray. They will be able to tell if that was a recent break, or even if there is one.

And if the X-ray is clean...that's a problem.

     We're witnessing the beginnings of the next major conspiracy theory on DU...in 2001 some of them were so invested in GWB doing it that they clung to any piece of bullshit "evidence" and denied every bit of logic with "that's what they WANT you to believe." So it is with Trayvon...a few of them are beginning to see that the truth isn't fitting their narrative, so they're backing off, while others are clearly digging in. Of COURSE Zimmerman's injuries were faked. Of COURSE Trayvon's injuries were also faked.

     This is going to be hilarious, when Zimmerman walks and DUmmy race hustlers get shuffled off to their own dungeon. This will be SO worth watching.

The FBI is already considering prosecuting for a hate crime. They are still silent on the new black panties though.
