Report: GM Will No Longer Buy Ads On Facebook
« on: May 15, 2012, 08:36:09 PM »
Quote
According to The Wall Street Journal and CBS News, General Motors is planning to pull its ads from Facebook.

That would be a big move because GM has spent about $10 million in Facebook ads and the news comes just days before Facebook goes public on Friday.
http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2012/05/15/152780824/report-gm-will-no-longer-buy-ads-on-facebook?ft=1&f=1001

Is it coincidence that this move comes after one of the Facebook co-founders renouncing his citizenship to avoid taxes?

I always labeled GM ads as "offensive" just for the hell of it.  :)

Same here, but I did see them a lot when my ad-block wasn't working for some reason.  I labeled Obama ads as "racist" and "offensive" too.  It was a fun time waster.

I used to be a GM guy. That was until they took my tax money to pay off the unions. Since then, I been leaning towards ford. Which is something I never thought I would do.

I used to be a GM guy until I realized all their cars are parts-bin pieces of shit.  The ObamaMoneyTM was just the icing on the cake.

I guess the ads aren't causing enough people to be re-VOLT-ing. :-)

I was thinking about a closely related subject recently. Did you ever notice that, while the major car manufacturers may advertise crap cars like the Prius or Volt, you almost never see the local dealership advertising on tv or radio for their "great deals on a Volt!". It's cuz the dealers know that those cars ARE crap and wouldn't sell, while people will line up to buy a truck or sedan.

People want vehicles with power, not something that can barely go up over a hill and be outrun by a bicycle.

The dealerships would probably wish the Volt would die. I think they would rather not sell a one since they have to send off one of their mechanics to train on how to fix one of these dogs. Plus, carrying parts is another big expense. A losing proposition considering how few a dealership would sell. I betcha the expense to repair a Volt or any electric car would be very high.

"Hey man, I hear these VOLT things have a lot of copper in them. Wonder what the motor and battery would bring down at the scrapyard?"

I heard somewhere that it cost $15,000.00 to replace the damn battery in a Chevy Volt. That is ridiculous.
