Houghtaling, the incumbent, and current president of the city council, is the "establishment" GOP.

Carmichael is the "Tea Party" GOP.

Knebel is the Libertarian (capital L).

Well, actually with the current 78%, while he's running ahead of the Magic One in (D) votes, there appears to be some residual resentment.  Now, 78% is pretty damned good, but there is resentment, about how Kerrey screwed over a true-blue Democrat and got into the primary after he said he wouldn't.

From what I see there are more votes for the Republicans than the democrats for the Senate, the dems are under 2k and the repubs have over 4k

Like I said, the (D) races are pretty boring; it's the (R) race for the Senate that's exciting, and bringing out the (R)s to vote in Nebraska.  Which isn't good news for the big guy.
