Romney will win a lot of the "white bread" vote


Lets face it, there are still a ton of racists out there in America, even ones that are quiet about it and don't shout it from the rooftops like the usual suspects. They will all vote for Romney, based on that he is a white guy. It may be an unpleasant thing, but I think it is a reality. Obama is scary to these people, no matter how he might try to de-fang the typical stereotypes or reach out to these people.

Also, Romney has that 1950s type aura about him, so some older people will vote for him on that basis. He is a "safe" candidate, I mean, non-threatening to these people. He might remind them of a competent office executive type, 1950s style. I still think Obama has a good chance of being re-elected, but I don't think we can count Romney out of it completely. Unless he makes some kind of huge verbal blunder, like in the debates, or on the campaign trail, which may happen, because he seems prone to self inflicted friendly fire.

But I'd be WAISIS if I said Obama will get the pumpernickel vote, right?

It is based on having either a black candidate or a gimme gimme gimme platform - since LBJ, that means democrat.

Yet, ironically enough, in terms of actual issues, especially social issues (i.e. gay marriage, abortion, drug legalization), African- Americans tend to have pretty conservative positions. 80% of black California voters in 2008 voted in favor of Prop 8, a larger percentage than any other racial group. They are literally voting against their own interests by continuing to vote for Democratic candidates.

I don't agree on the abortion stand. I have found the majority of black women I know actually are ok with using this as a means of backup birth control regardless of religious views. That's why abortion has been particularly damaging to black Americans and it's been peddled by the left whom blacks vote for on a regular basis. I'm sure Sanger. Is proud.
