DUmmie needs more life insurance.
« on: May 05, 2012, 07:44:37 PM »
One would think that if the present amount of life insurance is not sufficient, the policy holder should call the agent and get more.

If you lost your SO, would you be able to pay off all expenses and still be able to live as you are
heard a commercial about this and it got me thinking. My SO's life insurance would definitely pay off all of our bills including the house but I don't know if I would be able to continue to live in the house if I lost him. I don't know that I would be able to maintain the lawn and the maintenance involved. I would probably have to move to an apartment which would mean I would have to find new homes for our babies ( our 2 year old boxer and we are getting a baby boxer in 2 weeks)

On the other hand, my life insurance would be significantly lower and would not pay off all our expenses. Funny how that works. That needs to be addressed along with equal pay.

This should be an easy fix right away, why wait on someone else to do it for you?  Isn't it true that the prospective policy holder chooses the face amount?
This too shall pass.

Damn, I wonder if DUmbtonjeep knows about the secret policies her husband has on her.   The ones paying double indemnity for "accidental" death.   O-)

I'm suspecting the opposite, that she's going to "accidentally" off him.

Why would she not be able to maintain the lawn? Push mowers are fairly cheap. Is she wanting the other DUmmies to think she has some massive estate or something?

And as for the insurance, with her last sentence she makes it sound as if life insurance pays out based on your gender. I don't know about all life insurance, but the pay out on my life insurance is based on the amount of the policy that I purchased.

There is a gender disparity when it comes to life Insurance. A female policyholder will pay less for the same amount of Insurance as a same age male policy holder.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

AYFKM?  Being a teacher for the little miscreant "yutes" pays so little she can't afford a push-mower and a gallon of gas a week?  And I KNOW that the taxes on her home doesn't even come close to the amount I pay on my humble abode.

FWIW, if I kick tomorrow, Scoobs' pay alone is more than enough for her to make ends meet.  Taxes, oil, electric, etc.  And I think I pay about $70/month for my coverage, which for the amount of coverage I'm getting at my age, is a pretty decent deal.

I swear to Christ, Pam has to be pushing to take the title of Stupidest Person of the Innerwebz away from Beth.  Nobody is this stupid naturally.  Nobody.

Well, maybe vesta, but that's it.

Yeah, Pam--save a couple of bucks a month and drop your coverage,  you twit.  Not like you'll care if you're dead, right?  Jeez, no wonder the cat offed himself.

6. Sadly, I envy both of you

We have nothing.
If anything happened to either of us we would be left to fend for ourselves.

We half own our house(with the bank) and we work, but other than that we have spent our savings and retirement to live on in the last couple of years.
The only good part is is that we have a positive atitude and we are stupid.

29. exactly. and with a kid or kids it isn't easy either

I am single with one young adult child who lives at home. She couldn't survive on her own. We were about a month and half from homelessness before my disability finally came through (after depleting all savings).

21. I have another year and a half and I get my pension, Hopefully things will ease up then.

I think the worst thing about losing him though, is the loneliness. One would think that I would get over it by now (he died in 2003), it does get easier, but I don't think I'll ever get over it. I can't get married again, if I do, I lose his small pension and my health benefits.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I would never get over my husband dying either.

I have never heard of anyone whose estate planning hinged on lawn service.

Especially considering Pam's postage stamp lot.

A pint of Roundup and she wouldn't have to worry for a couple of years.

This person makes me feel like I could actually like a DUmmie.  Well there is actually one DUer, not a DUmmie, in that thread that I do like.

Also, what the hell is up with a lot of them calling their spouse their SO?  Are they trying to be HIP and trying to out DU the other DUmmies?

It's the mental illness that is liberalism.  Political correctness won't allow them to use terms like "husband" and "wife"... that's discrimination.  Instead, it's ambiguous, questionable terms like SO, spouse, and "partner".

I guess I'm just being evil and close-minded for calling Scoobs the "better half" then.

Me either--usually it revolves around paying for the kid's college, taxes on the house, rolling over retirement funds into the survivor's fund/plan, etc.

Who mows the lawn?  Not so much.  I wonder what she'd do if her husband kicked and she actually had to (gasp!) buy groceries!

Oh, wait, I forgot.  She'll just hit the local food bank.

I prefer the term someone used a couple of days ago describing nadin's status as a navy wife: cockholster.

I can't help but think how much shit he took on the boat for marrying her.

Kinda reminds me of the old joke--A bunch of cowboys are on the prarie, herding sheep across the ranch.  The newest cowboy asks what the others do for "release" and is told that they just take one of the sheep and do their business.  The kid nods and accepts this, and goes around the hill to relieve his DSB.  Meanwhile, the other cowboys peek around the hill and come back to the campfire, laughing their asses off.  The kid returns to find them all laughing.  "I knew it!" he cries.  "You were just messing with me!!!"

"No, we weren't," they replied.  "So why are you laughing?" asks the kid.  "If you're gonna **** the sheep, why the hell did you pick the ugliest one?"
