shit. mike (mdmc) has been banned.

i, personally, will miss him, and i think it is a loss to this group.

it was this thread- http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=641660

he did delete the op, but you can see from his replies that he was going to vote third party because of the medical marijuana issue. sigh. i get his disappointment, but damn.

anyway, if you are reading this mike, peace and low stress. take care of yourself.

2. I just spoke with him on facebook, my dear mopinko...

He asked me to start a thread explaining what happened, but you already have, so I will chime in here...

He already misses all of you.

If you're on facebook, I can help you find him.

5. ah shit

i saw or read about that thread yesterday, i'm honestly a bit shocked and more than a bit pissed they served him pizza over that.

i'm going to miss you, man, peace and low stress.

6. i'll just say this one thing as a former mod.

we aren't supposed to talk about what went on in the hot tub, but i think it is safe to say this- with the very, very rare exception, no one is tombstoned over one thread/post. there is always more to the story.
i think that is a big part of the way du3 is set up, so that people know why. on du2 the invisible little turd sweepers were always cleaning things up, so people never really knew what kind of things people said when they weren't looking.

i know mike is appealing. maybe he will get a second chance. i hope so.

7. I truly don't understand

I understand rules but they are too often viewed through a very tiny window. You have to have tolerances.

The Democratic Party in Colorado is backing the Legalize Marijuana Prop. Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, has been openly critical of Obama for the senseless and costly raids on dispensaries.

I've tried but can't get Medical Marijuana. One of the 'issues' I deal with is chronic anxiety. Chronic Anxiety isn't covered but a sore neck is. I'd love to take a few hits off a bowl than pop a bunch of Xanax. I'm addicted to Xanax and the withdrawal effects start kicking in every day around mid-noon. I feel like a 'junkie' when this happens. I'd love to get of Xanax and use a herbal alternative. Maybe it wouldn't work but I want to try.

So, I get why someone who has been active in this, the Mental Health Support Group, would place the single issue of legalized marijuana so importantly. I don't get why a bunch of bored "Hall Monitors" get some perverse enjoyment in having someone banned without fully understanding the reasons for the original discussion. It all gets back to having tolerance. Understanding. Especially when it come to Mental Health issues.

8. all i can say is

if you had ever been a mod, you would understand. i am very glad about all the moves to bring things out into the open.

and this pizza was handed out by the boss himself. it's his website. the rules are clear.

that said, again, i hope his appeal is granted.

if folks are upset, it doesn't hurt to lobby.

I'm surprised.

He was mentally ill.

He fit right in at the DUmp.

His campaign for democrat committeeman was similar to Socialist Steve's council run.

He didn't make it onto the ballot because he couldn't get anyone to sign his nominating petition.

In Bellevue, the big guy didn't need signatures, or he would have suffered the same fate.

What stood out for me was this:

"I am addicted to Xanax...when the withdrawals start to kick in....I feel like a junkie..."

That's because you are a ****ing junkie, ya ****.

What you really need is pot and a Xanax addiction.

To be fair to some small extent Dutch, the garden variety SSRI's can be addictive.  I got put on something similar not completely willingly while recovering from cancer surgery in the late 90's.  After about 6 months, I asked then Mrs. Wiggum and then my doctor, why the F am I on this?  Kicked it cold turkey, but it wasn't a piece of cake.

But to your major point, I highly doubt any reputable doctor would be encouraging the DUmmies to be taking all sorts of non-legal drug cocktails along with their pharamaceuticals.
