I just saw snippets this morning, but I'll watch it tonight on DVR. He's one of those who thinks that jobs are "menial." They are beneath him. Everything should be free. Isn't that how a 5-year old thinks? Free shit for you mean slavery for the rest of us. Last I heard, that was not allowed around here.

Looking back in history, only the wealthy could have their children educated. Unless a poor child was above the rest would they get a wealthy sponsor to pay for their education.
Slavery in a way did go into this, sell a child to a person that would train a child in a trade, start young and by the time the child was full grown they were able to repay the teacher-owner for years of room and board, training and walk away with a needed trade under their belt.------Or stay and become a partner to the business.
A child with the above all ability to draw, paint or sculpt were financed by the Church.
This is not black and white,the shades of gray come in here. The wealthy can afford to send their kids to college to take square dancing and basket weaving. The poor with a child with interest in the sciences have to hustle their butts off to get grants and loans, morage their homes and work 3 jobs to put a remarkable child into college.
Take a poor boy living in a one room cabin in the woods that was fascinated with books, went to the extent that he read everything he could get his hands on. Someone with money took an interest in him, took him out of the woods to be educated and herrrr-- comes young Abe Lincoln.
The idea that all kids need some kind of a college education is Crap. A genius engineer designs a breathtaking building or bridge never seen before. His work is done, now it is up to the best of the best tradesmen to find a way to build it. The designer is labeled a genius, but few think of the people that with blood sweat and tears can bring the vision to complication. Without the work and experience of the workers the genius and his vision can never come to fruition. Yes it takes knowledge for a number of those in a trade to find problems and solve them
.I believe college should be free to those that are the top in their class and have interest in the science fields. The fields that Need youth and a wondering mind.
Also the trade schools that find the remarkable students that can make a difference in the innovation and technology into the future.
Or, send the kids into the military field to ride the Subs or develop new weapons for the Army. One does not need an education in French Literature to make a difference and survive in life.
