On the early part of the Vince Cakley radio talk show today he was covering Obama's speech to students at an N.C. college about student loans. He told a bunch of lies that they wanted to hear and ...uh...uh...uh'ed his way through a bunch of BS. Obama did a partial quote from a Female republican rep about students who took out loans were being lazy. He was careful not to give a complete quotw, just the lazy part....just suits him, the lazy part. The republican Rep. went on to tell how they could get a college education without all that debt. Well, a dude that tries to collect student loans called in to set things straight. He was furious. He told about students graduating and never paying their loans. Some keep taking out more loans so they can take more classes so they don't have to start paying their loans...6 hours credit and your repayment doesn't start yet. Some flunk out and don't pay. ...and there are other ways to default.
He mentioned that a lot of times it's not that they don't have jobs or even good jobs, they just don't pay. He said he had doctors, lawyers, teachers, professors, bankers and executives that don't pay anything. He said he had a dentist in California that owes $628,000 and he can't collect from him. He also said a lot of student debt was for cars and other things that weren't necessary. The discussion went on until a caller called in to say that since some of those jobs/positions require a government license, why not lift their lincense. I think that's been tried before and it was struck down.
And one more thing was discussed, the bill to keep student loan interest from doubling....well, the current rates were set 5 years ago and set to expire now so that it could be used as a campaign issue. The democrats want to pass a bill to keep the interest rates low and pay for it by ...you guessed it....taxing the rich. The republicans want to pay for it by taking the money out of Obamacare.
I think I have all that right.
