 Scalia Likens Undocumented Immigrants To ‘Bank Robbers’

In his fervent defense Wednesday of Arizona’s right to crack down on illegal immigration, Justice Antonin Scalia likened immigration enforcement to crackdowns on bank robbers.

“What’s wrong about the states enforcing federal law?” Scalia said during his aggressive questioning of U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli. “There is a federal law against robbing federal banks. Can it be made a state crime to rob those banks? I think it is.”

The Reagan-appointed justice mocked the Obama administration’s argument that S.B. 1070 unconstitutionally forces the federal government to re-prioritize its enforcement resources and go after undocumented people who are not dangerous.

“But does the attorney general come in and say, you know, we might really only want to go after the professional bank robbers?” Scalia said. “If it’s just an amateur bank robber, you know, we’re going to let it go. And the state’s interfering with our whole scheme here because it’s prosecuting all these bank robbers.”

he is stating that illegal immigration is just as bad and dangerous as bank robbery, which of course is bullshit. If he wants to compare it to a crime, compare it to littering.

Scalia's logic and analogy are spot on, so of course it makes the left squirm. Illegal aliens are robbing us all via voter fraud, and various welfare fraud.

I like the name of this thread, it adds to my attrition plan. Libs always throw what they think is a trump card on the 10 to 20 million illegals already here. They say, "We can't deport them all". Maybe not all at once, but, if they break any (additional) law, whatsoever, jaywalking, LITTERING etc. Gone. No questions asked. Eventually you will get a lot better handle on the problem.

Scalia is spot on. I agree with him. The DOJ showed their stupidity when they sued a state for upholding a federal law. All because they don't want to sway illegal immigration and risk their chance of trucking people over from Mexico to vote democrat.

Yep. I don't buy that bullshit about not being able to deport them all. By cutting off all welfare other than life saving emergency care, and arresting them as they are pulled over in traffic stops as well as raid any known day labor camps. The problem would be under control in less than 10 years.

As a recreational sailor I try to make illegal immigration  analogous to a boat sinking, first thing you do is locate and stop the leak (boarder fence, patrols) then bail the boat out as fast as possible one bucket, one can, one dixie cup at a time (deporting illegals)  you will not get all the water out but at some point with enough bailing you will stabilize the boat.
