Just saw a rather depressing notice on the bulletin board at school.

I've seen these from time to time over the years. To make a long story short, it advertised a benefit to be held for a 16-year-old girl who's been battling bone cancer since she was 11. It's to help pay for -- you guessed it -- medical expenses.

In no other civilized country do we see this!

Such bitter miserable people at the DUmp. You should be thrilled that people are willing to help out and throw a benefit for her. I bet you don't bother to donate a single dime either.

A country that does not recognize access to health care as a basic right of its citizens and that allows the degree of homelessness and poverty that exists here and that permits the rich to grow ever richer while millions struggle to stay afloat can hardly be called "civilized."

You idiots actually believe that there is no help for the needy, when the reality is there is plenty of help both from the government and the private sector.

No, Sarah Ibepootin, you do NOT have to beg to get healthcare. All you have to do is leave for one of the socialist/communist shit holes that you DUmboCraps worship. They should be room for you in these countries as the citizens (aka people knows the REAL joys of socialism/communism) of those countries are often trying to sneak off and move here.

Maybe we should figure out a way to work a trade. We'll give them one of you people who believe that living in hell is wonderful in exchange for one of their people who knows that hell is hell and would rather come to the promised land.

And let me take exception to a few things in your post.

--Ever been to Europe?  Ever seen homeless there?  Pretty ****ing sad, really.  Oh, and how about that nice warm summer they had in France a few years back?  How many old people roasted to death there in a matter of a few weeks?  What was it, something like 15,000?

--Ever seen what REAL poverty looks like?  I'm not talking the "poor" in this country that can have only ONE big-screen HDTV, or ONE cell phone with free minutes, or food out the wazoo just for the taking off the EBT card.  Even the most impoverished folks in this nation have it all over some of the shitholes I've seen in my day.  That includes some of your so-called "progressive" paradises.

--Since when is ACCESS to healthcare ever been denied?  Oh wait--that's Canada and England you must be talking about.

Take your "civility" and shove it up your ass.

The depressing part is that a 16 year old has cancer, not that people are trying to raise money for her.  Only a liberal could take someone elses misfortune and turn it into a selfish political statement.

We need to nationalize funeral expenses then too.  When a tragedy hits a family, they usually set up a bank account for donations to help pay for the funeral.  How sad that in America, people have to pay for funerals of their loved ones.  ::)

Do they not know people die of cancer in nations WITH socialized medicine, all the time? Do they not also know that when the rich in those nations get cancer, they come here to places like Mayo, Johns Hopkins, or Emory? Are they REALLY this f'n retarded? NM, rhetorical.

That gives me an idea.  The folks on Red Eye are auctioning off art to help with the Breitbart Children's Fund.  What if DUmpmonkeys had to help Breitbart's kids?

When have DUmpmokies ever created a charity to help anyone? They deal in emotion, hands, healing white light, and ghost chickens. If your best bet, as a sick person, is to rely on DU, you should place your head firmly between your legs and kiss you ass goodbye. They don't do that. They think the government should handle everything because they're so Damn stupid they think the government has an endless supply of wealth.

A girl with bone cancer you say?
With Obama care she would still be squeezed out of the system and allowed to die.

Why would Obamacare do that? Because cancer is expensive. Cheaper to let a child die. That, ladies and gentlemen is our fate under Obamacare.

In the first place, if you expect to win the items you are bidding on, maybe you should play the lottery instead.  The idea of bidding on "stuff you're not going to win" and "shitty spaghetti" is to RAISE MONEY, DUmmie Brickmoonbatshitcrazy.  I guarantee more money went to helping those people than FIVE TIMES THAT AMOUNT in taxes.

Truer words never spoken.

The DUmbasses post a thread like this on a regular basis.  They get pissed off about those jars at the cash register of convenience stores to benefit some area family who's fallen on misfortune.  They get huffed up and post outraged threads, making themselves look incredibly petty and cheap; probably not the effect they were going for.

We have these benefits here all the time.  They're very successful, people come out in droves.  See, DUmmies, you get about 4-500 people together, who bring their cash and returnables, you get businesses to donate prizes, and you set up a good time, you can raise well over $10,000.  The people in trouble get some relief, and the attendees have fun.  More fun than taxes, but what do you know about that?

Do dummies not have google on their internets? We have fundraisers for medical treatment all the time here. Dummies would do well to remember that health care is rationed either by price or time, so of course people who live in a country with government health care will want faster/better/otherwise unavailable treatment at times.   10 second on google found this: ...James's condition is deteriorating and his wife, four children and two grandchildren held the event last Saturday in a bid to raise 10,000 as they has found a clinic in California in the USA offering ground-breaking treatment.  The money is needed to pay for a 10-week course of treatment and flights and accommodation for James, his wife Liz and their youngest daughter. ...

Bijou, on a similar past thread about these functions, some Brit DUmmy sniffed, "we don't have such things in Great Britain."

I simply don't understand why the DUmmies get so worked up.  NY lets us gamble at them, so if you set up a casino night at the Legion, say, and add in a bunch of other games & activities, the ladies set out a buffet of food, let the drinks flow, TONS of cash is raised.  And the people in trouble feel A LOT of LOVE from their community.  What's not to like?  You're sick as a dog, panicked about money on top of that, and you see 500 people come out for you?  That's got to feel good.  Better than everyone bitching about their taxes being jacked up.

Oh and BTW Brickbat, we have a huge contingent of Italians here.  Our spaghetti isn't "shitty."  The food is AWESOME.

Did her parents fail to provide health insurance for her?

If so, she still has my sympathy and I hope she does well.

Many health insurance policies only have partial payments.  For example, ours, we have to pay $2,000 out of pocket before insurance kicks in.  She may have a similar situation, and a fund raiser sounds like a kind thing to do.

But it is hardly an indictment of the U.S.

In most countries in this world she'd be far worse off - perhaps in all other countries, I don't know.  I'd rather come down with cancer here than any other country I know of.

That's right.

In Britain and other eurotrash countries, you can die while on the waiting list for your "free" surgery.

Of course, eurotrash nationals who can afford it escape to American hospitals.

Here, you get treated first, then work out the payment schedule.
