I'm sorry, but one of my earliest memories is being annoyed with Dick Clark (probably around age 3). See, the start of the theme for American Bandstand always signified the end of Saturday morning cartoons, and that just PISSED ME OFF, back them.
The dumbass thing about AB was the lame-assed shit you'd hear from the dancers:
Dick in 1959: "Well, what did you think about the song?"
Lame-assed dancer: "It had a real cool beat."
Dick in 1962: "Well, what did you think about the song?"
Lame-assed dancer: "It had a real happenin' beat."
Dick in 1968: "Well, what did you think about the song?"
Lame-assed dancer: "It had a real groovy beat."
