Systematic Chaos update

200 pounds lighter

Systematic Chaos (7,247 posts) Profile Journal Send DU Mail Ignore

I'm way overdue for a visit to this forum. Hello everyone!
I just want to say hello to all of you who visit this area of the DU, and update my progress. It's been a while!

Well, I'm now down just a bit over 200 pounds -- from 519 to 316 -- and my 21-year milestone of finally breaking below 300 is in sight! I am continuing to follow the McDougall plan (www.drmcdougall.com) with its starches, veggies and fruit. I am still having a hard time getting around much due to problems from my feet to my hips, so most of the weight loss continues to be thanks primarily to the plant-based eating lifestyle, but I continue to try and be on my feet and walking around the apartment for at least a while each and every day (and continue to hope that eventually, putting on a pair of shoes won't be excruciatingly painful; I bet I miss the outside world a helluva lot more than it misses me  ).

I have also taken the (for me, anyway) huge step of setting up a YouTube channel where I plan to talk about my challenges and triumphs, and encourage others who suffer from obesity and/or chronic illness to do the same. You can find it in my newly updated signature, below.

So, how is everybody?

6. It has been slow as molasses at times, but I refuse to quit.

I'm going to have the option for some good non-impact cardio exercise again after I get paid this coming Wednesday, so the process should pick up speed here shortly.

Losing weight with diet alone, when your muscles have atrophied due to pain and lack of activity, is not easy. Toning my legs back up will work wonders for fat burning!

Does that mean he has a job or he's just snatching Jeanine's paycheck?

Does that mean he has a job or he's just snatching Jeanette's paycheck?

I doubt the Las Vegas Leviathan has a job; given the pattern of his conduct, where he's lied over and over and over again, the allegation that he's getting money near the end of March seems credible, but it isn't from any paycheck.

With feet the size of commode-seats minus the lids, the guy ain't working, much less given his piss-poor attitude about doing honest labor.

His monthly gravy train disability check maybe?

It's good however to see how much he's lost, and how much we've helped him pursue that goal.

Even though he was rude to me I'll be nice and congratulate him on his weight loss.

I say good for him.  He is probably adding a couple of years to his life for ever 15 lbs he looses.  I am sure that his family is happy about that.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

For the curious: http://www.youtube.com/user/PlantBasedWeightLoss/videos

I don't think I want to go there, for fear he might show that ulcer, or whatever it was, on his groin.

Good call considering one is call leg/foot ulcers and the case for coconut oil.

As an aside, the man is a couple years older than I am and he looks about 20 years older and it's not like he's had a hard life except for the things he's imposed on himself.

I am glad he is protectively targeting his issues, and has had seen some success. Good for him.

As for the paycheck question - As a lettercarrier, I can say that some of the government checks are delivered on Wednesdays. That might be coincidence, so don't read anything into it.

The Las Vegas Leviathan will break three hundred pounds right after I start my new job as prima ballerina with the New York Metropolitan Ballet.

I still think he'd make an excellent bell-boy in a hotel in Las Vegas; you know, one of those guys with a red round cap and a red jacket, who make a mint in tips.  It'd help reduce his weight more, and toughen up his feet.

Nah, can you imagine the sound his flippers would make, flapping up and down the hotel hallways.
He'd wake up all the guests.

But, I would like to hear him yell, "Call for Phillip Morris!"

He could go back to school and maybe get a degree in nutrition, open his own business, and help other people.

A 21 year diet plan?  I haven't seen that one advertised on TV.

That's short, 0bama hopes to attain half the current yearly fiscal deficit in 24 business hours or 55 years, whichever comes first!
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

LOL, I just assumed he would get a loan, go to a community college or a vocational technical school.

No can do. No 15EEEEEEEEE "shoes", and pizza boxes just aren't durable enough.

On top of that, do we really need to post the photos of his upper thigh abcesses again?

It's on the station that runs the 7-Minute Abs advertisement.

I know you only wish the best for people, Ballygrl, but Kirk will not leave the apartment.  He cannot wear shoes.  This limits ones aspirations.

He's not going to break the 300 mark by sitting around eating starches.  This is a 100% carb diet.  I think it's quackery.
