What Were the D.U. "fried Chicken Wars"?
I've heard them mentioned, but I'm still not sure.

Please, no more threads about chicken.

I am trying to keep a sense of humor about this, so please bear with me.

I have instructed the moderators to lock new threads about chicken. If you must discuss chicken -- and, yes, I understand it is a *vitally* important topic in which you all have an intense interest -- please do so in one of the threads that was opened previously. Here's a good one:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

Go post in there. Or post here.

I think that some of you are well aware that the discussions about chicken are not about chicken at all. The purpose of these threads is to dig up an old flame war and wave it in the faces of certain people, because you want to get under their skin. To their credit, those people have not taken the bait. But we really think that a dozen threads on a topic specifically intended to bait people is really enough.

But now we are in a completely idiotic death-spiral of enforcement and boundaries-testing. The mods lock a thread, and then three spring up. And so the purpose of starting threads about chicken is no longer about tweaking a few of your fellow DUers, it's now about tweaking the moderators.

And then I get incredulous emails from people who are shocked, shocked that discussion of chicken -- chicken fercryinoutloud -- is not allowed. As if the discussion of chicken is something that is vitally important and that everyone is really interested in.

So please, if you really need to discuss chicken, do it in one of the threads that is already open on the subject. But please stop posting new threads about chicken or turkey or whatever. I know it's really fun to tweak people, especially when those people are the moderators, but I think it's time to find to something else fun to do.

Thank you for your understanding.

No chickens for oil!!1!11!!

Soudnds to me it was a flame war that pitted the KFC munching couch potatoes against the smelly vegan PETA dweebs at the DUmp..

That would have been fun to watch.

Isn't it a shame to be part of an ideology that squelches self-expression.  Over on our side, we can talk about anything we want.  Got a great chicken recipe?  Post it!  Your grandmother made the best fried chicken in the world, and she gave you the secret?  Let the cat outta the bag!  We can even go all the way back and discuss eggs, and get into huge flame wars about the best way to prepare them.  I love being a conservative.

Egg whites are evil and disgusting and so is anyone who eats them.

No, I most certainly do not, and you need to take that back!!!  Deeply offended!!!

I found the Obama family chili recipe.  It's linked in the edibles section.  They put turmeric in theirs, and other weird stuff.  {BLECH}

The “official” first family recipe features ground turkey or beef, ground turmeric among the spices, and a healthy dose of red wine vinegar

I'm pretty sure they use bush meat - zebras, apes, and such.
