It's a very highly valued trait to be willing to risk anything to maximize your charges safety. IOW, Greater love hath no man than to lay his life down for another. Thankfully in this case it was just his military career, and didn't preclude him from having the even greater impact on our public debate.

Well, SEALs are deadly, and I don't know your mother, but French Foreign Legion is mostly a bunch drug-addled, drunken ex-cons.
