poll: is the DUmpster insensitive to the primitives?
« on: April 09, 2012, 06:48:44 PM »
Time for the quarterly poll--although I'm about a week late--inquiring of the effectiveness of the DUmpster.

As most here know, about three-quarters of the audience of the DUmpster reads the DUmpster merely for light amusement and diversion, much as one reads the comics in the Sunday newspapers.  After all, it's very hard to take the primitives seriously; it's not as if they count or anything.

About one-fifth reads the DUmpster for "oppositional research," like the Kremlin watchers of old, trying to discern the next trends and moves by Democrats, liberals, and primitives.

And the rest of us read the DUmpster for anthropological enlightenment.

There's been allegations in the past that the DUmpster's "insensitive" to the primitives, making fun of them.

I beg to differ, but don't let my opinion influence one's own vote in this poll.

The most common complaint seems to be that the DUmpster "makes fun of" things that decent and civilized people are usually constrained from commenting upon; the primitives' size, or their mental states.

I beg to differ.  franksolich has been here since Day 5 of the DUmpster, almost four and a half years now, and as moderator, is charged with reading every single word put into the DUmpster, keeping everybody in line.

Someone might protest, but doesn't the DUmpster make fun of the Las Vegas Leviathan, because he's fat?

Pssst.

I have a secret.

Two out of every three primitives are fat, about one-third of those two-thirds morbidly obese.

Going to Skins's island is like attending a national convention of fat people.

But yet only the Las Vegas Leviathan has been taunted for being fat, in the DUmpster.

Why this exception?  Because the Las Vegas Leviathan politicizes his plight; he blames his mother of blessed memory, George Bush, and Republicans in general for his blubber.

Nearly all the other fat primitives don't do that, and hence aren't ridiculed for being fat.

Someone might protest, but doesn't the DUmpster make fun of the subway cat, because she's nuts?

Pssst.

I have a secret.

Two out of every three primitives has mental problems, about one-half of those two-thirds serious problems.

Going to Skins's island is like touring a nuthouse.

But yet only the subway cat has ever been taunted for being nuts, in the DUmpster.

Why this exception?  Because the subway cat politicizes her plight; she blames all of her craziness on her father of blessed memory, evangelical Christians, greedy capitalist pigs, and the hard-pressed taxpayers of Maryland who are unwilling to give her all she wants.

Nearly all the other primitive nuts don't do that, and hence aren't ridiculed for being nuts.

I dare anyone to find a single instance of where a primitive has put blame for his or her problems on the appropriate shoulders, and cheerfully borne personal responsibility for those problems, and was teased in the DUmpster.

I dare.

And we have the current best-seller on Skins's island, my fellow Nebraskan who's running for public office.

A few seem to think we're being hard on the the big guy.

And it's somewhat true; the Sarah Palin rule applies to the big guy, and he's been thwacked harder than any other primitive's ever been.  That he bears up so well under this stress is awesome; the big guy may even get my vote for Top DUmmie of 2012, no matter what else happens the rest of the year, based simply upon that he takes this constant thwacking with good grace.

But the big guy's hardly a martyr; after all, it was the primitives who in 2008 wrote and observed the Sarah Palin rule, and the DUmpster's simply following their lead.  The primitives wrote the Sarah Palin rule, and surely can't find fault with decent and civilized people observing it too.

How could quoting their words be a bad thing?
That's not being insensitive, just honest.
I would think they enjoy the attention.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

I voted "yes and it is a good thing."

Liberals in general and DUmp monkeys in particular take offense at factual things simply because they are factual. And I don't see a need to explain further.

I say hell yes, and **** em.  :-)

You know, even with untrammeled freedom given when applying the Sarah Palin rule (a rule written by the primitives, remember), the DUmpster has shown considerable taste and restraint in a situation where the primitives ran wildly rampant back in 2008.

For example, when I outlined the Sarah Palin rule, someone asked, "Well, does this mean we can do what the primitives did to Sarah Palin, making up lies and rumors and falsehoods about her, calling her dirty names?"

I replied I supposed so, but I'd be uncomfortable with it.  Best to just stick with the truth.

I'm happy to report that although such is allowable under the Sarah Palin rule (a rule written by the primitives, remember), no one, but no one, has gone that far when commenting upon primitives running for public office.  No lies, rumors, and falsehoods whatsoever, only the truth.

We're admirably restrained.

And then some time later, I had a conversation with a friend of the big guy, who pointed out that there was a lot more "dirt" on the big guy--again, coming out from his own mouth--that could have been used to inform the voters of Bellevue at www.electstevedawes.com, but wasn't, out of compassion.

We're admirably restrained.

One wishes the primitives would be a tenth as decent as we are.

I voted not sure. Can you really be insensitive to an amoral, parasitic pile of excrement?

Well, that's what I'm wondering, when looking at the Great White Whale nadin.

Nothing, but nothing, can shame or embarrass her; she has the sensitivity of a rock.

I voted no.

Picking on someone because of their physical or mental limitations would be insensitive.

Pointing out someones stupidity and hypocrisy isn't being insensitive, its just being truthfull.

I always got the impression the audience of the DUmpster has a "problem" with primitive freaks, and that being decent and civilized people, they refrain from pointing things out.

Now, remember, franksolich is a freak; born minus ears.

I myself never objected to ridicule about that--in either real life or on the internet--because I'm a nice guy, one of the nicest guys one can ever hope to meet, indulgent and tolerant of all who come my way.  And besides, ears do not an Immortal Soul precious to God make.

But not all freaks are as nice as franksolich, and it offends them when their freakness is pointed out.

Okay.

So here's franksolich's rule on this: (a) if someone's a freak because of a natural event (such as franksolich being classified, medically, as an "environmental accident") over which that individual had no control, then it's NOT cool, NOT copacetic, to make fun of that person.

It's okay with franksolich, but as a general rule, no.

And (b) if someone's a freak because of purposeful and deliberate mutilation and uglification, such as the subway cat with her, uh, creative remodelings, and the Bostonian Drunkard shaving his head, looking stupider than he did with hair, then mocking and laughing at and ridiculing the primitive freak's cool, in okay taste.

No way.  We can't make fun of the primitives more than they do themselves just by being themselves.  It's like laughing at monkeys at the zoo.  They don't intend to be funny, but they are, and I see no reason not to enjoy the unintentional amusement they provide.

Hey, what grace?

That big sweaty hunk of pubic-hair-covered socialist lard called me a rude name, for no reason at all.

I expect an apology.

How'd I miss that?

I've been carefully monitoring the big guy--everything excepting actually sitting next to him taking his blood-pressure readings every half hour; almost that, but not quite--and I must've missed that.

Actually, after franksolich picked up the football and ran it back for a touchdown, when the big guy slipped and fell on the three-yard line, I expected the big guy to lose it.

My speculations ranged from the big guy making promises of doing himself in on Skins's island, so as to gain the sympathy of the primitives, all the way to waking up some morning and seeing thugs from AFSCME and the big guy's sons-in-laws, camping out in the front yard here, waiting for franksolich to come out.

The things I never expected were that the big guy would admit his fund-raiser didn't go well, that the big guy would admit Marta and the kids and the Sarpy County Democrats called him on the carpet for being such an ass, that the big guy would promise to desist from posting stupid things on Skins's island.

I expected none of that.

I think for a primitive, the big guy's shown class and grace.

Of course, being a primitive he has a long ways to go yet, to demonstrate the depth and intensity of class and grace shown by decent and civilized people, but it's a start.  Baby-steps can lead to long strides.
