Leaving in a few days.

Assisting AKARNG with providing med support to local native tribes.

Should be rewarding, good experience.





There are lots of ptarmigans in Alaska.

Rich, I doubt he'll be getting that far north. There are vicious brown bears, wolves with paws the size of skillets, and moose the size of the single wide up there though. And if you're going pretty soon, they don't call the mosquito the unofficial state bird for nothin'.

Unfortunately, It's been my experience that ptarmigans are much like the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.  They seem to believe that hiding their head under their wing makes them invisible.  After all, if they can't see you, you obviously can't see them. :rotf: :fuelfire: :lmao: :-) :popcorn:

The ptarmigans are master of camouflage. Rabbits and gyrfalcons can't get them.

I be in one of the villages along the eastern shore of Norton Sound.

We'll be holed-up in the local school which, I'm told, is fairly modern thanks to a government project but the villagers literally live in wooden houses with no indoor plumbing.
