Nightclub shooting suspect arraigned on 12 charges

DECATUR — A 21-year-old Decatur man who was arrested Saturday for allegedly shooting five people at a local club was arraigned Tuesday in Macon County Circuit Court on 12 charges, including five attempted first-degree murder charges and weapons charges.

Charles L. Fitzpatrick was arrested by detectives about 11:45 a.m. Saturday near Eldorado and Union streets, nearly 12 hours after five people were shot at Celebrity Nights, 2553 N. 22nd St. The gunshots inflicted wounds in the abdomen of one victim, the leg of the second and third victims, the hip of a fourth victim and the lower torso of a fifth victim.

“As far as we know, the victims are all stable,” Decatur police Lt. Cody Moore said Tuesday afternoon. “There were no life-threatening injuries.”
Moore said he believed most of the victims were treated and released from local hospitals, while one was transferred to an area hospital for more treatment.

I doubt this made national news since it involved all blacks at a black club. This place is less than a mile or so away from me. It's surprising that they caught the guy .

Just about every other weekend we have a black club shooting like that here....and nobody sees anything. I didn't know so many black folks were blind.

Snitches get stitches.  At one time, one of the local black leaders complained about police being slow to respond in cases like this.  The police chief rebutted the claim basically by saying that speed wasn't necessary because witnesses refused to help investigators.

Consequences. Learn to live with constant murder if you refuse to cooperate with police. I don't see the Nation of Islam or the New Black Panthers opening up alternate Police centers. They seem just fine with black on black crime, and they likely will not snitch either.

This has been going on for years, and no one seems to learn the lesson...or if they do, they move out.
